Afternoon all,

my '99 4.6 v8 hse P38 has decided that it doesn't want to light up the road on the drivers side.

A couple of days ago i had a RH side light failure message come up, so i duly went and replaced the wedge bulb. Plugged everything back in and still had the msg and no side light.

Then the dip beam failed duly giving me another msg and wonderfully annoying beep.
I've replaced both the dips and the side lights on both sides now for good measure and still the drivers side lights do not want to come on. nothing, no side lights, no dip and no main beam. they all work fine on the passenger side though.

i've cleaned the earth connection on the drivers side as well just in case that was coincidental, but nada!

I'm not too sure where to look next, there was no intermittent working prior to this, i would turn the switch and hey presto i could see in the dark, but now that's only at 50% of what it was.....

I've had a mooch around on here and haven't been able to get any further as of yet.

any ideas?

many thanks
Scott

I had this problem a while back and it turned out I hadn't connected the lights up correctly. It felt plugged in but I had actually made a ballsup of it. Have you tested to make sure you have a solid connection by removing the rubber collar, plugging in the connector and turning on the lights?

Just gave that a go and they are still not co-operating.

i'll give RAVE a look as suggested and see if i can decipher the diagrams.

cheers

Check for corroded connectors on the BECM and wet carpet in the drivers footwell. Check that you get power to the headlight connector with a meter. If no power, may be a MOSFET failed in the BECM.
