Sills

Been advised that I will need the sills on my disco 1 cutting out due to rot and told that replacement with box section is best. Quoted £600 for both sides which made me fall over. Any ideas if this is accurate?

Buy some box section from a local steal works and then either find a local mobile welder to do it or as suggested above buy one and learn!

Don't have time myself unfortunately. He reckoned a full days labour at £27.50 an hour, no vat and then materials on top. Can't see steel being £250??

A full days labour £27.50 x 10 = £275

Steel box section about £30 max for a length in excess of whats needed so £305 total

I went with heavily uprated steel box (yet to fit it) much bigger and thicker than the normal sills... steel cost me £45 inc. VAT.

Google it and you should get it on main search, I'm not sure where it is either thats how I get to it haha

When I did mine many steel suppliers said its not a common size, so they would had to of ordered in a 7 meter length, so costing me more money. Maybe that why your material cost is so heigh..?
You can get 1.5 m sections on ebay.. Steel rectangle section 100mm x 60mm x 3.5mm x 1.5 mtr | eBay
