Comma ATF Dex 3 semi synth

From Halfords. BTW, that's not what I'm paying for it as I'll get a decent discount, but is that stuff ok? Also, is 10 litres enough for both? I think you only get 5l in and out of the gearbox...

To save you checking, its a 2002 P38 DHSE auto.

tnx

Will be fine. Drain the box and refill, around five litres, run for a week then change filter and refill again with fresh oil. You will need around two litres of same stuff for transfer box.

Ah, that way around? I was going to do the oil and filter tomorrow and then change the oil again in a few weeks when I get round to it. You reckon do the filter on the second change?

tnx for your advice as ever

Anyway you want, but that is the way i would do it. A bottle of Lucas in second change won't do any harm either.:)

Tis up to you I prefer to wait until things go wrong nothing wrong with good old Fashion oil duno how much your paying last lot I bought. 25! Litres euro car parts 60 squid ish dextron II you get lots of goes the and some for power steering too

Ah, this one Lucas Oil Transmission Fix - YouTube

at Amazon

But actually THIS is the one Lucas recommend if you don't actually have a fault...

What does the Conditioner do that the Stops slip does not do and vise versa. The description looks very similar if not identical to me. Have you considered it maybe the same stuff in a different bottle. Anyway please yourself.

I quite agree. There's about 3 or 4 of their oils that have exactly the same description in different tubes!! Anyway, I don't have any for today so I'll worry it in a couple of weeks when I do the second change.

tnx

Done them both on the ramp at work. The gearbox oil looked fine. Nice and red (or brown, I can't tell, I'm colour blind). But the transfer box oil was horrid. It was overfilled to start with. Loads ran out of the fill hole and it was a dark grey that looked like water contaminated manual gear/diff oil. In fact a good description would be "muddy puddle" water.

Anyway, isn't it amazing how much more oil the gearbox takes when you do the extra step of running it through all gears and then filling as the engine idles. A good couple more litres went in. I bet some people forget that step...
