clean an engine out without going for a drive

still got me old motor on the drive, no luck selling as yet, think its the short MOT.
So, I'm going to book it in to get a full12 month on it, then might get it shifted.
So did a few preflight checks, like charging the battery, seeing as its been stood a month, everything seems ok.
Started it up, and couldn't see the other side of the street, nasty black ****e coming form the zorst.

Left it running for a while, tickover cleared up, but when its revved it billows out black smoke, any idea how I can clean it up without going for an italian tune up? MOT station is only down the road, so not enough space to clean it up on the way, and it has no MOT so cant drive it out on the road.


oh, its not a landy, its a Kia Sedona, CRDI.

Don't book it into the local MOT centre, book it into one way away and give it the Italian tune up en route? It's legal to drive it straight to the booked test but I don't think there's any stipulation that it has to be the nearest garage? I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong.

You may drive it to and from an MOT station or place of repair. It does not have to be on your doorstep. The repairs and MOT must be booked.

hmmm, might book it into a friends garage for a "service" he doesnt MOT though, I use a place clost to me, cos I trust them with MOTs, used him for years, doesnt rag the nuts off them for the smoke test, think its just cos its been stood for a while.
