Has anyone built their own storage drawer/ system for the back of their Defender? I like the look of the African Outback roller drawer system but its way out of my price range. Does anyone have any links to manufacturers of rollers similar to those used in filing cabinets that I could use for building my own drawer?

Cheers

You'd be surprised what you can get from B&Q - They have wide-track quite heavily rated runners and all sorts of bits (Well, the Chester one does at least). Worth a look.

this is a set of items my business is looking into making - i refuse to pay £500 for frickin drawer. We've costed it up and reckon we could knock out similar ones to mss for about £170.

I looked at mobile storage systems and whilst there kit looks well made, its just shy of a grand for a floor drawer fitted in a 110. That's just silly money!

I assume this is much cheaper and a better fit

I just knocked a frame up and two drawers (no runners) from any old crap I had laying about, a bit of rope for a handles. Jobs a good un, 3 years on and they are still going strong-Total cost about 50p :)

I built my own from Plywood and screws. Bit of Varnish to keep the water at bay. Jobs a goodun.

Most expensive bit would be the heavy duty runners, but i didnt buy mine i had them left over from work.

I reckon it cost me £30 tops. full length in a 90 and 3/4 width.
