The one I have is cooked top hose blew off so it now barely runs and sounds like a bucket of nails and it is prob cheaper to put in another engine than attempt to rebuild

You might be right but how much life can you expect from a replacement engine? If the rest of the wagon is in good nick it might be worth having your block fitted with tophat liners. One of the forum members who lived close to me when I lived in England got his done for around £700. Most of the hardware just swapped onto the repaired block and in the end he has a bullet proof engine with many years of good service ahead of it.
