Rear door external chequer plate?

The outside of my 110csw rear door is starting to look a little shabby; does anyone know where I can purchase an external chequer plate panel for the rear door of my 110csw - as shown below...

If you just type in defender it will come up with loads of stuff, you just have to sift through the crap. My rear door was so bad I had to get a new one. So good luck with your purchase and the fitting.

Rebel4x4 do alot of chequer plate.

The back door is a bit of a mess cosmetically and structurally.
What ever I do I think I'll take the load of it by mounting the spare wheel on a swing away carrier. The question is do I rivet on some painted chequer plate (cost £40ish) or do I bite the bullet and get the door properly repaired and painted (cost £???).

how bad is it, is it just surface bubbling. If so rub it back, paint it a colour and then chequer plate over the top.

I got mine off ebay ... just had to jigsaw a cut out for the wiper. Looks better the same colour as the Landy too as the silver is just too shiny otherwise and draws peoples attention to your door repair

The skin isn't too bad, it's the steel frame I'm worried about.

Fitted a Mud replacement plastic door card the other week & found myself struggling to find decent steel to drill into.

Maybe I should have gone for internal chequer plate. Then, If I do end up going for external plate as well, I could drill right through the frame and bolt internal & external plates together to give the door some rigidity and support!!!

The seller in DW's ebay link offers the wiper cut out as an option - should reduce the amount of DIY butchery I subject the panel to.

Seen a couple of 110's with painted panels, I thought they looked surprisingly smart & tidy.

If you are handy with a welder then you could repair the door yourself with very little cost. It is suprising what you can achieve when you can put your mind to it or indeed if you have a friend that has welding skill perhaps ask them. Since I have owned landrovers it is amazing what skills I have achieved out of neccessity, give it a try what is the worst that you can do. You already have a door that is knackered why not see what you can do???
