winch behind rear x member

Hi I am new to landrovers but I am rebuilding an old 90 and wondering if a winch could be mounted behind the rear x member out of sight with the cable and hook passing through to a fairlead on the outside .It has a marsland chassis and towbar .any help please

Cant see why not.

If it's securely mounted and wont fall off there's no reason can think of that a motor and gearbox would care what way up it's mounted.
