Took me loads of messing about before i set mine up propper. my ariel was grounding against roofrack instead of earthing it. just ask for a rig check when you set it up the truckers will let you know.

So do you reckon I should put everything on, connect up all but the aerial.
And then go to find somewhere to set up.
Do I need someone else to come with me with a cb to check etc?

Hi will.

Actually mate you can install everything's set it all up etc etc and you can turn on and try receiving no problem.

It is transmitting that can damage your set if your SWR is bad.

If you are receiving well then you probably have a good connection (no shorts etc) and its all down to SWR then which can be a real bugger to get right on some setups.

I can always come down the road in mine, but I have a handheld aswell so whichever.

Cheers

Midland are good, generally. I have a 77-099. It's very basic but very small.

I bought a President Walker (very high quality set) purely out of interest, there was nothing wring with my Midland but i was curious. The President was great and lovely to use but i decided I didn't need the features and extra size, so refurbed it and sold it.

What's the Midland you're looking at?

When I got my midland it came preset to Spanish but I didn't know as it made chris's pick up the same Spanish signals when we were out. ......so I decided to read the instructions.

Your taking yours off the road next week as well?

Nice one Will, rare stuff you got there. There will be equivalents available, but like we said, it's just not popular anymore. TVR were probably the only people still buying it :D
