If you have legitimate injuries then that is what insurance is there for, the minute you start making up crap to proffit from an accident you become a thief and a fraudster. I hold more respect for the pikeys stealing land rovers than people fausly claiming on their insurance.

I'm not really into the personal injuries game, a cousin of mine was involved in a low speed shunt and has still been contacted by solicitors to claim. The letter 'didn't encourage fraud' but told you how long certain conditions should last for maximum amounts of claim. (My cousin was fine and filed the letter in the place it deserved...BIN!) In conversation with another chap following an accident with genuine whiplash the first offer was £1600 but the solicitor told him to hold out for £2100. The process of settling for another £500 cost the insurance company FURTHER £2900 in solicitors fees!!! It is truly crazy! Personally I can see the temptation to be imaginative but for me honesty makes for a better nights sleep!

However on to more serious issues! The landy has rippled/twisted/bent every panel except the back door and perhaps the roof. Despite that the new inertia reel seatbelts stopped any of us hitting either the steering wheel or the dash and you can see the 'burn marks' on the seatbelts! I was pretty impressed!!

Go after what is fair: replacement of the series, and actual personnel injuries. That is what insurance is for.

I've never seen a series go so fast, glad no one was hurt. Do you think if you had stayed in your lane or swerved left a bit you would have missed him or not? Also, this personal injury bollocks costing us money is a nonsense. The insurance companies take back handers for setting up solicitors with the cases in the first place, how do you think these solicitors know you've had a crash? they're probably contracted, the insurance companies are the ones on the con, always have been, insurance itself is a con, I'll bet there is a way of finding out how many claims have been made vs how much insurance companies have received in finders fees vs how much profit they've made vs how much profit they've made from not paying out on claims where someone has made a mistake on a form vs how much profit they've made from selling of undervalued written off motors. I reckon there'd be a revolution if we new what was going on behind the scenes.
Insurance companies need straightening out big time.

Yes Evilseries, I did wonder if trying to avoid him was the best course of action, you may have seen the video clip when I looked at it I had just under 2 seconds to make a plan! Had I gone left I'd have had the curb which could have rolled me, straight on would have taken away his back end or both him and his passenger if he had frozen once he spotted me. The bumper would have made short work of the pillars and potentially ridden right over him...messy.. And this was only when travelling at 50mph!

No one can argue that it is reasonable to make a claim and recieve a "fair" payout. It would appear that the insurance company has already started looking for reasons to reduce the payout with their ridiculous argument in respect of the photos. Lets see what happens, and I will be surprised if a "fair" price reflecting the true value of this machine is offered in the first instance.

Yes indeed, I'm not holding my breath! The photos issue is less of a problem at the moment as the claim is directly against the third parties insurance, I wait the assessors valuation!!

Wait for the ambulance chasers to ring you up and write letters to you non stop for months, they were amazed that i didnt want to claim when i had my crash, all i wanted was the money for my car and that was it.

Dunno about the clams direct thing, everyone is doing it and we are all being screwed for insurance because of it, so is it right or wrong?
My motor was bumped and for a while I was considering going to a solicitor to stop solicitors from mithering me, I was bombarded from calls and mails from firms like claims direct, I didnt claim, didnt think it was worth it, I'dve had to be in the car at the time of the bump to have got any injury, instead of buying a paper.

They are introducing laws which makes it illegal for an insurance company to be paid for the details of accidents - so there is no profit to be made and hopefully will reduce the number of 'ambulance chases' - but these haven't been brought in yet.

I've the assessor coming this week, its actually twisted the chassis and most panels have been 'tweaked', the rear tub has moved around and the O/S back wheel actually dented the top of the wheelarch!! The impact was around 50mph and this shows the violence..
Landrover Series 3 vs Calibra crash - YouTube

thats some impact that!!! very very lucky it didn't go over all the way!!!!
