Series rear tub removal.

I have most bolts removed on the rear tub but does anyone know if the front of the tub is held on by the brackets under the tub or is it sufficient to undo the seat belt bolts from the top which are fixed to the same brackets ?

I know on defenders its bolted across the seatbox on the outriggers and if you open the door theres two bolts either side of the seatbox i dont know if series are the same?

I have these removed but really looking for advice about the brackets that are fitted on the chassis, I think there are 4. If it is sufficient to remove the seat belt bolts, which I have, then I wont need to crawl under to undo the brackets.

Ok well assuming theres no extra bolts compared to the 109 or less for that matter

You should have;

8 in rear crossmember
4 in each outrigger
about 10 in the cab behind the seats
and 1 in each corner of the door

That should be your lot after removing the ones that hold the back of the cab roof on obviously

Disconnect your fuel filler pipe are you completely removing your rear tub?

haha forgot that one, it was the last one I undid before taking the tub off


Hard task of putting the ****er back on this week though

On my swb S3 there's the bolts across the back between crossmember and tub. Four supports between the base of the tub and the chassis, two at the back, two at the front. Two bolts each side between tub, seatbox and the long sill mounting brackets going to the bulkhead. There are some bolts holding the aluminium sill to the tub, I think they're also the ones that mount two of the support brackets. There's a row of bolts between the seatbox and tub behind the seats. There's four bolts between the front of the tub and the chassis. I have early seat belt mountings which attach to the tub but you probably have brackets bolted to the chassis. The tank filler and overflow pipe has to be disconnected from the tank. Disconnect the wiring harness behind the RH light cluster. I think that's all....
Putting it back wasn't too bad, two of us lifted it on, a bit of wiggling around and it all lined up OK. I did replace a couple of the tub floor supports and added some extra plates across the corroded tub to chassis sections.
