just joined a have a 1990 2.5 turbo defender diesel,wanting to know is easy to change the gearbox oil in both boxs without a torque wrench
or just hire one to be safe.

Hi Davy,
You will be fine changing the oils without a torque wrench, you will only need a torque wrench on certain bolts like cylinder head and other high pressure areas, if you are new to working on cars then just do everything carefully and slowly, I tighten the drain plugs back to just over hand tight if that helps.

And remove the filler plugs before you remove the drain incase somethings wrong and you cant refill it too drive it to a mechanic

Probably a good idea to buy a torque wrench though when you can, not expensive and if you intend to work on the land rover yourself in future you will need it at times.
