you cant use the units out the 2005 on range rovers as they use a different system, you need a hybrid tuner out of a later bmw. normall go for around 400 quid though.

sorry to jump in guys but am wondering the same, i know getting the later bmw unit for the boot of the car improves the satnav to a newer version, is this the unit you're talking about? Will it improve the tv image, and by how much?

it wont improve the image any but it will let you pick up digital channels, bit expensive though considering how little the tv gets used.

I had a quote of £1200 to upgrade TV to digital and upgrade sat nav. This was from an independent auto electrician recommended to me by my Local Land Rover Main dealer in Chelmsford, Essex. Let me know if you want his number. It is an upgraded unit, not the 2010 version.

Fook me I'd want a 42" flatscreen for that sort of money. wouldn't ya be better off just admiring the view thru the windscreen.

That's pretty outragous. I'd bet you a tenner that all he is doing is fitting the 2006> DVD based satnav and tv tuner whihc you can buy on ebay (as someone already said) for about £400. So £800 for labour/markup is rather on the rip-off side!

Your thinking of the mk4 DVD drive for the Sat nav. You need a tv tuner box which is desperate. Do a search for BMW x5 tv tuner from about 2004

Thats a mental price i have a 2006 Vogue Se and like everyone else it worked once so i wanted it working again lol the part is xra500220 if you have a touchscreen unit and took a "clown" me lol 40 mins to fit then just rescan and you have tv i paid £350 for unit my advice phone round auto breakers
