Hi,
The solution is probably staring me in the face but for the life of me can't find what the problem is.
Got a 1997 DSE in which doesnt want to rev above around 2000rpm, its as if there is a limiter, floor it in either park or neutral and it will rev to about 2100/2200 then bounce between 1800-2200 mark with the odd spurt (every 10secs or so) up to about 3500 and straight back down again.
Checked for any fault codes, the only one that came back was Inlet Air Temp, replaced the sensor, cleared the fault but still no difference.
Have pulled off cleaned and reseated different connectors.
Pulled and checked leakdown pipes.
Replaced Fuel Filter and Air Filter.
Checked Intercooler for blockages.
Dropped Exhaust Downpipe no difference.
Has to be something daft but just cant see it.
Any suggestions?

Car Starts fine, and idles away fine, revs smoothly up until its new limiter

Check the pipe to the MAP sensor is in place and not split. It goes from the inlet manifold to the sensor located on the fuel filter housing. Otherwise check the needle lift sensor on injector number 4 and the crank sensor. Needs to go on a diagnostic system that shows live data.

Hi Datatek, Have checked hose from manifold to MAP and also plug which goes to it, can see Boost Pressure and it is going up as you rev the car.
Both Needle Lift and Crank RPM are consistent with one another and increase together. Its very weird

Check the in tank pump is working and the fuel filter and air filters are good. Also check the pipes to and from the turbo/intercooler for delamination on the inside.:)

Fuel pump is working, both fuel and air filters are new. Intercooler pipework if fine and holds pressure. Would it help if i sent you a short video of the General Readings i am seeing to see if you can spot something i can't?

It might be a good idea to trial swap the engine EDC ecu over & see if the problem exists.

I would but i don't have a spare one kicking about, plenty of petrol ecus :(. Am i correct in thinking that the pump value stored should be 8 followed by 14 128s?
Have tried writing this to the EDC but its not taking it. Suppose as a last resort i could probably buy one of eBay.

The stored pump values depend if it's original or not.

Some stored values are N/A all the way through, but the 14, 128's rings a bell.

I reakon the ecu has gone into a fault mode, as they do when they start to fail.

Try & buy a used one to trial it over.
