Hey peeps working through the LR90 and got some pics with related questions lol, Its a 89 chassis which has had the bulkhead, foot well, rear tub replaced, and a 200tdi botched conversion

What is this switch, have not seen it on any one other 200tdi.

How can i sort out this botch of an airfilter ( no chance of that being water proof)
SDC10458.jpg

What steering box is this?? Its got one or two seeps so thinking of replacing.
SDC10459.jpg

Do i need to bolt up ALL these holes, ??
SDC10460.jpg

Is this gap in the top window seal normal ???
SDC10463.jpg

Is there meant to be a kind of roof to side panel seal here or does the door seal normally cover it ???
SDC10464.jpg

Same as above but sides to rear tub ??
SDC10465.jpg

Should there be a seal there ???
SDC10467.jpg

Should there be bolts there ( its the same on both sides )
SDC10469.jpg

This is the bell housing with the engine on the left, should there be bolts in the bottom ??
SDC10470.jpg

Where does this earth cable connect to the engine ??
SDC10472.jpg

Is this an aftermarket breather ???
SDC10471.jpg

As above but on the rear axle
SDC10474.jpg

Whats this plug under side at the rear on the loom that goes from O/S to NS ???
SDC10475.jpg

Breathers look normal (well the same as mine!), windscreen seal should all be on the outside (amazed it went in as it is!) and the plug on the wiring loom at the rear appears on them all

From your pics, a number of bodywork panel rubber seals appear to be missing, and also looks like the aluminium strip that joins the bottom panel to the side panel (it's usually riveted in place) also appears to not be there

As mine's a 300 TDi need to leave others to answer your engine questions

Cheers bud, didnt know if the breathers were just ports on the casings or what we both seem to have, The windscreen and frame was replaced by the PO about a month maybe two ago so im guessing he did it with the roof in and bolted up. I thought i was missing seals lol :(

Cant find any online shops that have exploded diagrams with seals which would be really helpfull

hello mate ,my 87 90 has a white seal between the roof and windscreen frame, the switch looks like some manner of temp sensor, your breathers are the same as mine ,there appear to be some bolts missing from your bell housing going horizontally,i have a couple of bolts missing on my floor and its solid but would advise you get some screws in the gearbox tunnel,i also have a small gap at the top of my internal door seal which i tap back up regular but keeps creeping down, and i think the socket is a tow pack connector possibly ,if i were you i would work out what you need to re fit the air intake and visit a breakers .you need to put bolts anywhere land rover intended that are missing on your panels once thats done you may find thigs fit better.hope this helps

For info on the missing bolts google glencoyne engineering for good pics of the flywheel housing and the reasons for fitting them

Might be fur bleeding the water pump.

Might try weldin' a metal tube onto air box?

It's a 4 bolt

Do i need to bolt up ALL these holes, ??
SDC10460.jpg

Ah would.. but that's just me

Is this gap in the top window seal normal ???
SDC10463.jpg

not really.

Is there meant to be a kind of roof to side panel seal here or does the door seal normally cover it ???
SDC10464.jpg

No. yer door seals fit in here

Same as above but sides to rear tub ??
SDC10465.jpg

can't make it out!

Should there be a seal there ???
SDC10467.jpg

kinda hard to tell where it's at! If it's the front of roof above windscreen and door, then there is a seal along the roof to windscreen. Sometimes folks fill this gap in with mastick or summit.

Should there be bolts there ( its the same on both sides )
SDC10469.jpg

possibly... but there might've been summit fitted in therer at some point. Wouldn't hurt to stick a couple of bolts in.

This is the bell housing with the engine on the left, should there be bolts in the bottom ??
SDC10470.jpg

Can't remember off hand just now.. unless ye mean the hole where the wading plug fits in?

Where does this earth cable connect to the engine ??
SDC10472.jpg

possibly up to yer starter motor

Is this an aftermarket breather ???
SDC10471.jpg

As above but on the rear axle
SDC10474.jpg

Nope. they're pretty standard

Whats this plug under side at the rear on the loom that goes from O/S to NS ???

If it was a 110, then it should go to yer fuel sender. If it's a 90 with tank under the seat, it's nowt to worry about.

Just my thoughts, but will gladly be corrected;):D:D

Cheers peeps much appreicated just the answers i was after, Nothing toooo serious just more little jobs to add to the list including buying a tube of silkoflex ;)

Would it be worth pulling the floor plates and putting a thin sheet of gasket rubber down to help reduce vibration ????

Best way to reduce vibration is to sit on a bean bag

Not sure what your trying to achieve with the gasket sealant, but it can't do any harm ;)

As for the above pics, i can't work out the fuzzy ones, but the air filter that has the infamous 'everylandyneedsit' gaffer tape is holding the rocker cover breather pipe back into the air filter intake. It's not a major issue as it is, unless your worrying about submarining, and it wont affect the running of the engine like is it, some folk ( like me ) remove it from the air intake altogether and stuff the breather pipe into the chassis at some point to help keep it moist with oily air ( reduce's rust ;) ) then block up the hole on the air intake.

Stick as many bolts in as you like, where there is a hole, it's a personal choice as Buster said. Does it need them? Thats down to you and how you feel about the holes ;)

The switch in the top of the stat housing is for vehicles with air con so your engine is quite posh!
