p38 cold start better hot start worse?

i am a bit baffled i have fitted a one way valve on the fuel line(before fuel pump,after fuel filter,cold start is perfect,but the hot start is worse takes quite a few turns to fire up,is this definately the pump?
or can it be a sensor.
it was a pig before i fitted the one way valve but it is worse now.

Check the in tank pump. How much fuel is there in the tank? If it's low, fill it up and see if it's any better.

the tank is half full,the pump in the tank is working,however not sure about the right pressure,or delivery amount so this could be the problem?the vehicle has done 123000 miles,it is a 2.5 diesel

I've been doing a bit of thinking about this lately. The first thing we always blame for the hot start issue is the leak off pipes/fuel leaks etc.

But if that was the case then it would be a pig to start cold too, should be even worse really. So I'm certain that fuel leaking back is not a factor in 'real' hot start issue cases.

Research on the web points to wear in the pump giving reduced pump pressure at warm running timing.
A one way valve is not going to fix that so bin it.

Go for the hot start fix kit, their on ebay £30. I fitted one last year with the timed relay and mine has been perfect, fires straight away either hot or cold on first piston. No clouds of soot out the tail pipes.
