Its not always chavs either

I had a guy in his 50s tear arse past me, narrowly missing my car

The lights ahead turned red and he slammed on his brakes, rather than run a red light

He must have been in a mad rush to get somewhere, as he started thumping his steering wheel in anger................then his airbag went off

Propper funny

Again, more BS.
An Orion never ever had a Mclaren engine and would never pass Porsches etc!
Where do these people come from?

Kin donkey

I had a pretty tasty Fiesta when I was younger.

A 1982 Mk1 XR2 which I put a 2.0 lt twin cam Lancia engine in. ( the only good thing from a Lancia Beta !! ).

With the extra weight of the motor and the smaller rolling radius of the Fiesta,s tyres, it was pretty quick.

My rally driver mate put a rwd 2.0 lt Cosworth engine in a MK3 Fiesta. That was really fast off the line. He still never reckoned he could get around the stages as quick as he could in his old MK2 Escort.

While I,m at it.

Of all of the fast, " boy racer " cars I had, the Renault 5 GT Turbo was the quickest by far off the line.
I had mine boosted and fuel adjusted and boy was it fast. If I remember rightly, I think the standard 0 to 60 was about 7 secs ?.

But I think the all round " fastest " was a Series 1 Escort RS Turbo. ( MK3 Escort ). Bigger intercooler, " chipped ", hybrid turbo. It used to spin the wheels in 3rd gear if I was,nt gentle with the throttle !

Thats were its problem was, traction. ( well one of its problems along with torque steer, body flex, poor weight distribution and corrosion ! ).

Its true what they say about 200 bhp in a front wheel drive car. ( they say its too much by the way ! ) I dont think my RS was anywhere near that.

Confession over.

Had an 81 fiesta 1300Sport with a twin choke weber carb & a K&N filter. that went like a bullet for the first 100yds. then it was ****e. but I managed to get the drop on a fair few tasty motors, from the lights. Once had a prick in a porche come along side me in the left turn only lane. It was obvious he was going straight on & thought he'd get the drop on me. Like fook he did & Then I drove at 30mph whilst weaving in front to stop him from overtaking me managed to keep him back for 2miles until I turned off. ****ed him right off. & did similar to an elise driver bout 6years ago. was in heavy traffic on the M6 when he overtook me using hard shoulder then cut me up to get back in. I repeated the favor without using hard shoulder and then boxed him in when he tried to take his offramp. so he missed his junction. It's not always how fastyou are but it is often how stupid you are that decides the outcome of a race..

musta had a **** load o paving flags to keep the bastid on the road with that sort of power, my 3.0 was a pig on the back end as standard, used to have to keep a back of cement in the back to stop it stepping out in the rain:rolleyes:

600bhp in a cappa!!  , mine was only a 2.0 and it would loose its self on any bend

multi link rear suspension with coilovers and some serious rubber steered it on a pretty true path

no i suppose you must be right not even the 125 built to enter in in the touring car class pity that i must own a flying carpet

I'm not doubting you at all... However I don't remember the orions being used in the touring cars. I remember the texaco sierra cosworths and the mondeos but not the orions. What year did they use them just out of curiosity?

Jaguar v12 xjrs v12 6.0 was very useable at weekends 304hp, but with air con spark plugs a bastard

I'm too young to have been there but as an avid motor racing fan and a mechanic I take great intrest in motorsport. Those sierras were sweet though

darrian rally car makes cosworths look like piles of ****

Years ago I had an Audi Coupe Quattro 20V and got put in my place once by a Pug 205 GTI 1.9. Those cars were fast!! The Audi was so heavy, nearly 2 ton I think.

Ha ha ha
Beat Porsches!
Ha ha ha.
Listen mate I've had loads of Porsches, my latest was a new 911 I bought last year, a shi**y old Orion faster............Ha ha ha!
Come on, come down from cloud cukoo land, its ok to chat in the real world.
Or do you wanna keep flying your Ford Orion Carpet!

Orion was quicker than the cavalier when it was released and was raced in the BTCC. Fords advert when it was first sold was "The boot everyone has to beat" at a time when everyone was switching to hatchback cars.
