ok do you offer a full 12 month warranty totaly test every circut before sending out?
most of the recon units i have had dealings with at best get 3 months warranty and usualy fail within 6 months! indicator faults and alarm faults one customer had a failed becm saying alarm fault even though it is not armed and this is a 9 month old reconed unit and now sjowing the same fault this chap wants a gen unit 3 becm in 3 years each time a recon unit or a cloned unit which has been his old unit twice and this time it still has the same fault!

so for me i stick to gen

Totally disagree. The BBS stuff does more than just unlocks.
Why is it that LR Main Stealers send new Becm's to myself and others rather than suffer the embarrassment of sending it back to LR for unlocking because they have ballsed up the programming.
Your answer relating to only fitting genuine new LR Becm's at over £800 a pop is a joke..the majority of owners on here would not even consider it. The Becm's from LR are not new, they have been reconned by the manufacturer.

Irish rover,

Are you saying that the BBS stuff can unlock an alarmed BECM.
I know that my T1 Testbook simply can't and i do have inquiries of customers for that kind of service in France.

Cheers

Flo

This is interesting.
I rebuild becm's all day long.
What's this genuine LR stuff then.

90% of our rebuilt units end up at Genuine LR dealers.

What's the bollox about 12month warrenty. Even LR don't give a warrenty.
Once it's fitted, that's it. I have quite a few brand new becm's with faults that LR wouldn't accept back.

& just for reference, we've never had one come back due to faults. We've had them come back when other issue's on the vehicle has buggered them up.

Testbook, what a load of ****. I could give you the names of LR main dealers service managers who ring me as soon as a problematic P38 comes to them. I explain to them how to get address the problem diagnosticaly & they can't do it as their systems won't allow them.

I own a long list of diagnostic systems & testbook isn't one of them because they cannot do the job.

I know absolutely nothing about Testbook but given the relatively low cost of a single vehicle Faultmate, I can't see the point of bothering with the time and effort to get an inferior product (T4) to work.
When I have enough cash Faultmate is the way I will go. I'm also interested in RSW's work, but the Faultmate is here and now and proven. I'm hoping to get a group of P38 owners together here in France and purchase a multi vehicle unit. If not it will be the single vehicle unit with an upgrade later.

so all these ppl with the software who wants to come sort my p38 out as its been sat in landrover 4 last 4 days as they cant sort the immbolizer fault out lol

They can sort the problem out by selling you a replacement Becm for about a grand all in.
Whereas Rick the Pick, myself and others can do it for a fraction of the price...and you keep your existing Becm.

So much for the wonderful Test Book !!!! Load of crap.

that odd t4 can unlock an armed becm but it was never available on t1
sales of good act and land rover recipet states 12 months warranty! so it is you talking out of you arse!

craig i would ask the dealer to swap contry to dubi and reanitalise the engine ecu immobiliser then it should start usualy alarm failure switch if off and it works done it on three peoples cars with recond becm after repairs all ok worth a try

Voguese...I will stand by everything I do, if there are any problems I will resolve them to everyones satisfaction.
I, unlike yourself do not use this forum to plug my business.

It's yourself that's talking out of your backside on this and the "Other" forum which you also use to push your business.

"Trained Land Rover Technician" don't mean Jack **** to me. Just look on this forum and see what a mess Main Dealers make of things they touch. Wouldn't even trust them with fixing a wheelbarrow.
:mooning:

Guys,

I'd like to understand something : i've read many times that an alarmed BECM (i didn't say loss of security link) can only be repaired by taking it out of the car to a specialist like CallRova, Rick the Pick or Irishrover but not with any Testbook or Faultmate ...whatever.

May you be very precise please?

Thanks

Florent

You are correct.
We have the software to directly access the main processor on the Becm logic board and unlock the Becm which in turn allows the Alarmed status to be reset.
Have a look on the BBS site for details on the Direct Memory Module for the P38...it's module SM035.

There are two functional aspects being mentioned here which seem to be getting a bit mixed up and for clarity i would like to try and explain them better.

The first functional aspect is the dis arming of an Alarmed BeCM via diagnostics.
This is possible, however it can only be done on the very very latest BeCM versions (PAM36) or later and you have to know the EKA code it is programmed with for it to work.

The latest T4 software did provide this function and it is of course therefore included with our standard SM022 BeCM software module which i might add costs 112 GBP as a seperate MV module and is included with all SV P38 Kits.

See the bit at the bottom of the settings section of our SM022 help page
here.
https://www.blackbox-solutions.com/shop/help/SM022.html

This function simply dis arms an armed BeCM and nothing more, and frankly is not much use, as if you happened to have a BeCM fitted with the right version, and knew for sure what the EKA code was, you can do this with the Key in the door lock.
Those only familiar with the small handful of settings capabilities the the TestBook / T4 provide might also notice all the other settings possibilities of this module, allowing for example the setting of the Instrument Pack Language to French. This is possible by changing the Market to French with a TestBook / T4 but then that also means you set loads of other options such a LHD etc.

The second functional aspect is unlocking a locked BeCM, This has nothing to do with the armed state, the version, or if you know the EKA code or not. It simply cannot be done by Testbook / T4 or indeed any other manufacturers equipment except BBS's.
To do it, not only do you need to have our hardware but you also need to purchase the special SM035 direct CPU access module which is not cheap as it is not intended for private owners.

This is the holy grail and provides unlimited access and capability no matter what, but here is a quote from the information we provide on it that explains its usefulness much better.

Although there is already a Module (SM022) which provides full diagnostic access to the BECM (Body Electric Control Module) fitted only to the P38 Range Rover (1995 to 2002 Model). There are a number of core pieces of information that the BECM is by design, unable to reveal through the normal diagnostic connection under the control of a one time usage software lock, and also the ability to change some others. This limitation effectively prevents re usage of salvage or otherwise used BECM’s as well as trial substitution. It also forces replacement of the BECM in many circumstances when there is actually nothing wrong with it. Despite high development costs, and expectations of low volumes of sales, we have produced this module which allows for direct connection of a Vehicle server to the Microprocessor of the BECM and thereby direct read and write access to all stored memory in it. Besides offering a full memory save as Hexadecimal in a HTML page capabilities as well as the ability to re load and write pages back, which can be handy for those wanting to experiment with swapping bits round, this module also provides a settings page identical to the SM022 one except all of the previously empty boxes such as EKA (Emergency Key Access) code and the Fob Code which is used to validate the correct remote key fob are now populated. In addition it is now also possible to alter previously read only values such as Odometer (Miles / Kilometres travelled) and VIN numbers. Naturally of course the one time lock function can also be reversed. In addition the State of both the Alarm and the EKA lockout delay can be read and altered which is very useful as in an Armed or EKA locked out BECM there is no way to be able to communicate with it through the diagnostic connection and if there is no way to disarm the BECM it is otherwise a catch 22 situation which is usually circumvented only by replacement with a new BECM.

yes i do plug my business (as do you see your signiture!) and yes i do get work from the many forums i post on and yes i know testbook is flawed and yes somtimes i do have the deceny to admit i am wrong! but having been let down by the few ,one always becomes sceptical of what others offer in the same way people are sceptical of what i offer yes factory trained can be interpreted in many ways( as with most things technicians are on bonus paid a crap wage and not in the job for what they enjoy doing it rather as a means to an end! i must be odd then my hobby is land rovers and i still enjoy it as much as my first day in my job! ) but if you were to see the level and quality of my workmanship i feel i could very easily win you round, there are people on this forum who can vouch for my work as i don't advirtise outside of forums due to costs and feel a word of mouth approach is worth more than a small add in a land rover mag or a local paper it is too that end that i have also rented a stand at this years lroi show at peterborough which i will be displaying my own and a couple of other vehicles i have worked on!
if i was so up myself would i freely give information out? no i would sneakily pm and offer help which i don't!
as people on here have done i am happy to even help over the phone in doing so fix said vehicle and loose a job but gain a happy potential client who may call on my services of help or a job to be carried out!

i'm here to help people and increase my customer base so will see how it goes once i have a few spare pennys i will contribute to the cost of hosting as i think this is a good forum from which to continue spreading my name from if the mods are ok with this thanks for the heads up and the reply cheers stuart

Yep stick around and offer help. People on here are friendly but be warned they wont hold back if something upsets them. You will get work, not by advertising but by referal, if your any good.
