Freelander soft top

Hi all I am looking for a soft top for my 98 Freelander.What comes as a package.I have looked on ebay and some have brackets some don't same with red keys.What parts can I expect in order to have a complete top as Iv'e never looked at one close up.

there are two sorts. one is a rain hood
this uses zips, velcro plastic and elastic to keep the rain out if you get caught

two bits go up either side of the car and the cover ataches to that and there is a bar to put tention onto it through the middle


the other is a proper canvers roof which is expencive (and not worth it if you ask me)

whilst i have not seen one I would expect it to b like and anvers roof softop car type thing with a framwork that requires attacing to the bodywork of the car and then the hood goes up and down on the framework

the rain shower hood is good, ony draw back is theres no window in it, i have used mine loads of time and is bounced down with rain and its stayed water tite...... (the doors have fell of tho!!!!)

i looked at the factory option my self and to be honest i realy canot justify that amount of money for it.

buy the rain cover.

Yep, I have a soft top for sale. It is just the roof, ie no side windows (but you already have these?), no red key (available on ebay).

it's an absolute mint hood, was in storage, as new, complete, everything including clips, brackets, windows and window storage cover and red key, I'll even provide the LR instructions.

on a related topic....
i have a soft top too.. but i'm missing the small bits of canvas that help hold the hood in place (securely against the body when you have it down/open and are driving along..
They slid into the rails which the plastic windows normally fit into...and are secured with two poppers/press-studs.

They dont go anywhere when you have the hood closed....so of course you put them away somewhere 'safe' in winter...and move house...leaving them behind

anyone have any spare ?
or know the part numbers for them
or even what they are called normally ?

further to other posts im after side windows and instruction manual if anyone can help
ON A HELPFULL NOTE the key to open your gas/electic meter is the same size as the red key and if you open the glove box under steering wheel where fuses are theres often clipped in there

Is there any chance that you found a complete soft top and now have two spare side windows? I've got a soft top without the windows and I can use them if you want to sell them.

I bought one last year from Ebay and got it in perfect condition with bag zips working etc no red key for the grand total of £35.00!! The key set me back less than a £5 from LR.

Dont get sucked into the bidding war, I've seen a full unit go for £30.00.

The reason why they always come up on Ebay is they are a bit of a faff as you have to remove the windows when folding up for use in the sun, me I'll sell mine with the car when I change it.

Alot of the Rain/Shower covers go for a higher price than the soft top.
