    ABS,TC,DHC Fault contact

If the warning lights can be cancelled by cycling the ignition then it is more likely to be the SVS gremlin than a wheel hub. This can be died in a ccouple of ways and costs pennies to sort out. Take a rideover to D2BC.co.uk • Index page and search for svs fault.

    number plate mounting

Care to explain why? As far as I can see the only requirement is for the plate to be vertical (or as close as possible) and visible from in front of the vehicle. The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 applies.

Viscous fan cuts in too soon

@ raywin Don't forget that the temp gauge isn't properly analogue like on the Disco 1. It only has four positions - cold, warming up, normal and too late ☺ If you really want to see the actual coolant temperature then plug in a nanocom or get a proper gauge.

Any ideas on how to get the Radio going?

It should be a free service from the stealer.

Any ideas on how to get the Radio going?

Danny, Give your local LR dealer a call with your vehicle registration and they can tell you the code it had when it left the factory. The code on mine had been changed (or it had a replacement radio fitted) so the code from the dealer didn't work. I sent the radio to a company that...

    So what one ?

There's nothing a half decent home mechanic can't diagnose and repair on a Td5 Discovery or Defender and they are easy to work on. I agree the Tdi is easier to work on but they're all getting long in the tooth now (last ones were 1998/9) and tin worm has had plenty of time to do it's worst. My...

    300tdi catalytic converter ?

If there's no data on what the emissions were at the time of manufacture - 300Tdi engines pre-date Govt emissions data records - no gauge (no matter how clever or expensive) will be able to tell if the emissions devices originally fitted are still fitted/operating correctly. The changes to the...

    300tdi catalytic converter ?

Where are you getting this information from Munster? I can't find any reference to it either on-line or in the MOT testers manual. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something, mate.

    300tdi catalytic converter ?

You're right Mark, but TBH I don't understand how anyone could confuse a DPF and a CAT.

    300tdi catalytic converter ?

No, I didn't mean a DPF - and yes I do know the difference between a DPF and a CAT. You might like to read the first part of this https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/275427/mot-special-notice-1-2014.pdf where it makes no reference to the age of the...

    300tdi catalytic converter ?

Surely, with the recent changes to the MOT rules, fitting a de-cat pipe to a 300Tdi will mean an automatic failure?

    please help, strange noise

Take a look at the inside of the hose that goes from the turbo to the intercooler. Check for delamination inside.

    loseing power temp in red

Mine drove fine for a couple of months with the head gasket blown. The only sign that it had blown was the constant need to bleed the coolant system and the ocassional very high temperatures, after towing or thrashing along country roads, which very quickly returned to normal once limp home mode...

    Headlight level adjuster not working.

I had this on a D2. The fault was in the switch that controls the height. I took it apart and cleaned the contacts inside and hey-presto it worked again. Just a suggestion :-)

    loseing power temp in red

From your description of what's happening, it sounds to me like you still have air in the system, which will confuse the hell out of the temperature sensor because the air will be significantly cooler than the coolant. The coolant temperature sensor is mounted into the adaptor where the top...

    LPG V8 - should I ???

I can't vouch for the D2 V8 but I've had a couple of D1 V8s on LPG - one manual and one auto. Personally, I couldn't detect any difference in mpg between petrol and LPG. The manual did 17-18 to the gallon and the auto 12-13 overall according to my records. Having decided to get a D2 I thought...

Hello to you all! ... I have a problem, or two...

Hi Joe, Welcome to the crazy world of Land Rover ownership :welcome: You're probably right to think the central locking issue is water related - it usually is. On mine the CDL works okay if it's a dry day but after rain (like today) it won't unlock the drivers door. Take a look behind the...
