    Transfer box pinion Replacement?

I've been having some "fun" with my 2002 TD4 in the last week, with coolant system (split hose, faulty radiator cap & knackered thermostat) got work done by local LR authorised service place. When the had car, they ran "Vehicle Health Check" which threw up a litany of issues. Solve one today by...

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Turns out, none of the brake lights were working. Got new brake switch & cable assy, replaced it myself in 10 minutes thanks to the "3 Amigo brake light switch replacement Guide" here on Landyzone, lights now working as is HDC which hadn't been working. This place is a bloody lifesaver! Next...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced brake switch, discovered that none of brake light were working, who knows how long that has been like that. Brake lights work & hey presto, so does the HDC!

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Got my car back and she seems to be fine from a coolant point of view, mind you it hurt my wallet big time to the tune of €477 (£396). While Land Rover had the car they did a "Vehicle Health Check" something they do with all cars the work on to alert customers to the Irish equivalent of...

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Neil, Thanks for spotting that, just going to collect the car now, so I'll make sure to get the vacuum pipe clipped up. Thermostat has been replaced, car road tested on motorway and I'm told everything is operating properly & as expected, the old thermostat was indeed fooked.

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

The saga continues, had top radiator hose & got coolant system drained and refilled (pressure filled to avoid air locks). After test drive the bottom radiator hose was cold, mechanic reckons thermostat is knackered. Head & wallet will be wrecked from this. Fingers crossed I'll be back on the...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced expansion tank cap, ordered a radiator top hose, bled the coolant system, thanks to Singvogel and Duncp73 for guidance.

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

SV, That makes sense, the radiator top hose will be with me on Monday, so doing this to keep me going over the weekend. Once the new hose arrives I think I might get it fitted and get a coolant change done, there's a Land Rover garage 2 minutes from me, my father has used them for his eldlerly...

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Yup, heat on full, if I hadn't opened the windows it'd be like a sauna in there :flame: Round two after lunch, I will beat this car in submission!

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Round one of bleeding done, reckon there's more to go but definitely took in water from expansion tank. Letting it cool again and will top up expansion tank, don't want it sucking in air that I'm trying to get rid of ;)

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Could I just check, is the bleed screw is the one shown on the black hose: and not the one shown below: Sorry for being such a noob and pain. I am capable of the work but it's a long time since I did such work and just can't afford to buy a Haynes manual at the moment

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Thanks for the reply, it will help me stay sane. That's interesting about the disco. My Freelander is handling the towing, ok on steep hills, while it manages them it can struggle a little when I have two horses (ponies) in the box (below 80% of max towing). Aside from that the other minor...

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

I'm rapidly losing my mind with this cooling issue. Located the leak in one hose, have ordered replacement part (£36 if I fit myself) patched the hose while waiting for the new hose. Checked after drive home yesterday and little to no water loss. On drive to work this morning (no standing in...

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Yep, she's mobile at the moment, just carrying lots of water with me, but thankfully it's all short runs. Only have the car since end of January, clutch & clutch master cylinder died a week after getting the car, starting to fall out of love with it and actually considering a change to a...

    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. Checked oil again and thankfully it's clear. I've also located the leak, it's in the rubber section of the top radiator hose near the radiator. Seems to be a 3 part hose, rubber from top of rad to "plastic" piece and the rubber at expansion tank...

Checked oil the other day, but I'll check again, thanks for reminder
