Thanks both, confirmed my thinking really. LR used different weight flywheels for a reason so I should stick with that. Housing and starter motor are easy to come by, flywheels less so unless I splash out a couple of hundred quid on a new one. I'll keep searching.

Quick question for the experts. I have a 2.25 diesel fitted which has a crack in the block running the entire length of the engine. I've got hold of a 2.25 petrol which I'm going to put in but it hasn't got a flywheel housing or flywheel. I'm thinking of just swapping the housing and flywheel...

Thanks for the replies. I had it in 1st gear and the HDC light was constant, didn't touch the throttle. Thinking about it 6mph going downhill towards the other car would be about right .

I've done it a few times on VW Golf 1.9TDi's and it worked a treat. They have variable vanes in the turbo that gum up over time which ends up with the engine going into limp mode usually on any long uphill stretch.
