Mine is doing the same thing and i was looking in the manual and it says its more lokely to be an electrical fault and not the starter. It might be worthwhile looking at the starter relay and so on. Mine hasn't been done yet coz i could not locate some of the relays.

My car would not start and changed the starter motor. It still does not start but if you give it a push start, it does. I was trying to locate a starter relay but no luck. Its a freelander '98 petrol engine - manual. Please help.
