What have you done to your Freelander today

Drove to work and back. 50 miles of gravel every day is fun on a TD4.

    Load noise when slowing down

Try it with the A/C selected off, i.e. window de-mister also off. Could it be omething like this do you think? Engine-related loud buzzing noise solved! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check your engine bay RH side inner wing...

    gear issue

Is your reservoir breather clear? Perhaps if it's blocked you would pull air past the master cyl rubber on the return stroke or suck the flexihose inwards. Both of these would give you only a part-stroke after a while. Try driving with a flexible cover over the res to see what happens.

    gear issue

You say it's better when you double clutch, or pump it. Could there still be air in there somewhere? I'm not sure if there's a bend in the system or somewhere to trap air. What about the flexible hose expanding too much if it's had diesel on it or contaminated in some way? Is the pedal...

    Engine-related loud buzzing noise solved!

Well actually that's why I left it for a day or two to see if the noise would go away. I couldn't face looking in there and finding one had made a cozy nest while I was away and got his locks caught up in the aux belt :faint2:

Knocking on the front drivers side

A good way IMHO to test the inner CV joints is to drive under power at say 40 MPH and then you need to take a bend or have space to safely sway the car from one side to the other. Say your RH Inner CV is worn, then you may feel the vibration taking a RH bend, but it will go away when you take a...

    Engine-related loud buzzing noise solved!

Check your engine bay RH side inner wing plastic cover! I've been baffled by an expensive sounding buzzing noise. Sounded like a dry steering pump or AC pump. It happened after starting up following a 5 week lay-up. It went away a little bit after some running, but came back when on the...

    BAd Vibration

Chainlube might work, not sure. There again when it's used on a m/c the carrier fluid evaporates because it's in the open. Being inside the gaiter it might stay too thin. With the gaiter pulled back it might be a good lube to spray in there and leave until it's dried out. Then what you have...

    Brake pipe

That's a great offer you got off FREEL4NDY there! Just been looking and found this Copper Brake Pipes Probably a few more around too. Not much fun doing it outside though laying on the ground. Depends on loads of things whether you should be doing it yourself like folk say. I'll have a go...

    Brake pipe

Good subject pardec! I need to do most of mine. Too much time covered in salt and gloop. It's probably not a bad job once you get into it. Anybody know the size/grade of pipe and fittings? Also where to get it and forming kit from?

    BAd Vibration

Maybe he had a hunch. That's why he opened them up. Good job he did because I would say that was the problem for sure. I was even thinking of lubing mine before renewing to see if it helped. I was thinking of keyhole lubrication! Make a small hole near the driveshaft part of the boot (so...

rear diff creaking while cornering slow??

Interesting! Did changing the VCU get rid of the creaking? I was thinking it might have been a dry leg on the UJ too, especially if you went a bit wild with the powerwasher. If the rear diff was damaged by the old VCU I would have thought it would make a different noise under power then when...

    Disc brake pad thickness.

Good to know about the EBC discs S, Mine are grooved with a rusty lip (bigger on the inside). OEM pads I would say as all the servicing was done by local dealer. They bite well when you hit the pedal, but will probably cause more trouble that it's worth when it comes to new pads being so...

    Freelander Club revival

Oh can I be the Most Southerly Member please? Actually there's someone on the South side of the Stanley bypass but I'll tell her after we're up and running:D

What have you done to your Freelander today

Solved an annoying RH front knocking noise on my '04 TD4 by fitting new LR anti-roll bar bushes, (good luck getting the bolts out if you have to do it). Finished off my deep clean by scrubbing out the boot. Spotted a rear propshaft UJ gone at the diff input. Propshaft overhaul next.

    anti roll bar.

Job Done! I got my TD4 up on the ramp today and managed to get my FRH seized ARB bolt out. A little heat and a small pipe wrench around the flange of the flangebold did the trick. New LR bushes (without Jubilee clamps) went on along with Stainless bolts and copper grease. Took it for a...

    anti roll bar.

AAARRRRGHHHH! You mean I didn't need to renew my ARB bushes in the first place? Just fit jubilee clamps? Oh well, At least I learned that washing machine bolts are actually called 'flange bolts' and are to be feared unless you attack them like an X-Factor finalist.... I want to get it all...

    4 wheel laser allignment

Got it! Thanks Hippo. The key is realising the difference in track between front and rear. Multiple measurements and patients. I think I could do that! Must get a Trackace and give it a go. Much better than anything we've got down here I would say. I'll let you know how it goes around late Dec...

    anti roll bar.

Thanks for the heads-up. I recall seeing a flange on the ARB next to where the bush goes. I expected this to stop any side to side, but I'll try the clips too. Be nice to stop that stupid noise.

    anti roll bar.

Well, from now I call them washing machine bolts. He'll get it out.
