    MASSIVE insurance saving

Done and paid for. Lancaster matched the NFU policy and undercut their price significantly, bye-bye NFU. NO previous interest or affiliation with Lancaster here, thanks for the tip guys. :)

    MASSIVE insurance saving

Think I'll give Lancaster a call. Just had the renewal notice come through from NFU for my completely standard unmodded 5000 miles a year 2002 90 CSW: 49 year-old driver with no convictions or claims in the last 20 years = 72% rise in premium since last year.

    Defenders in accidents....

I recall reading a Dept of Transport report into vehicle safety. This was a formal report spanning over a decade of accident statistics involving nearly all makes and models of cars, published around 2007 IIRC. In multi-vehicle fatal accidents on public roads, statistically the safest vehicle to...

defender problem - lose of power

One usual suspect (and dead simple to check) is the MAF sensor (immediately downstream of the airbox). Simply unplug the electrical connector from the MAF and go for a drive. With the MAF disconnected the ECU will choose default settings; if she now goes like snot off a stick you've found the...

Td5, think something's not quite right

I have a 2002 Td5 CSW, 33000 miles, well maintained [edit: standard with EGR and cat intact...], which shows exactly the above symptoms and which has started getting really sluggish when stone cold. After reading through the various MAF threads I disconnected mine and went for a short drive onto...

Alpine Windows - Has this happened to anyone else?

I crazed the rear window on my 2002 90CSW with a goodnight slam. I only noticed the following morning when I closed the drivers door and the pressure differential blew the glass out of the rear window. Hmm, I must have a watertight Landy, lol. That lost us a day and a half of our touring...

    heater slow very slow

factory fit electrically heated windscreen and seats. And when I posted that it was averaging 10C warmer than it is now :D :D

    heater slow very slow

If I get straight onto the dual carriageway (ie run under load) my Td5's heater will be kicking out toasty air in 5 mins. Stop-starting up to the 30 limit in the suburbs takes maybe 15 mins to get any proper heat, maybe 25 mins for the temp gauge to approach normal without sustaining top gear...

    Fuel Warning light misleading

The light on my 2002 90 Td5 comes on at 11 litres left - on a flat piece of road. The light will come on prematurely if going up a steep hill close to the 11 litres left, and will stay lit subsequently on a flat road unless I stop and switch off for whatever reason. The light will now stay...

    TD5's performance drops when warm

So although chipping/remapping/interrupter boxing the Td5 gives excellent bang per buck performance upgrades, you would be better off upgrading the intercooler first?

    TD5's performance drops when warm

Hmm. I have a 2002 90 Td5 and have noticed something similar when the ambient temperature is high. The car feels most responsive early in the morning when the air is cool and dense and with the engine warmed up to normal operating temperature. Mine's a real slug on a hot day with a cold engine.

Gearbox grinds between 2 and 3rd when cold

Mine does too - 90 CSW Td5 with 17,000 miles.
