the tanks are indestructible and never caused any problems off road

one way round it could be to wire starter up to a button instead of starting off the key but i would get the starter checked first its probably been on since new

it is possible to put together without taking gearbox off if you look in the hole with a torch you can see the clutch fork and where the push rod plastic retainer clips to it using a long screwdriver you can clip it back but you may need 3 hands to do it and a small head to see in the hole but...
