No Dash Lights, Still turns over but won't start. 1995 300tdi maybe immobiliser?

Tried said bypass technique and nothing happened. Also doing that will not bring back the dash lights e.t.c. It's hard to discuss if you are not supposed to discuss it. First rule of bypass club is don't talk about bypass club.

No Dash Lights, Still turns over but won't start. 1995 300tdi maybe immobiliser?

Hi Guys, So this intermittent problem has finally become a fully fledged situation. It started a while back where I would be driving along usually within the first minute of setting off and everything just turned off. I would have to take the key out and press it on the metal immobiliser...

    timing belt

The only mark I can see is this yellow dot (see photo) do you think that means the mod has been done? I don't know what to do. I guess I should probably get it changed anyway. As far as history, it's genuine miles, with history. It belonged to a bigwig who kept it in a barn and only...

    timing belt

My 1995 300tdi has done 28k and never had it changed, do you think I should get it done just as a precaution purely based on the age of the belt?

What mileage is your Tratter on?

My 90 300tdi has just gone over the 28k mark not bad for an 18 year old

Does anyone know what this is? It's lurking under my cubby box 300tdi 90

Thanks, I'll just leave it be in that case. I have removed the EGR but I can't be bothered unscrewing the cubby just to get it out. I have learnt taking things to bits will usually reveal more unwanted surprises!

Does anyone know what this is? It's lurking under my cubby box 300tdi 90

So I was snooping around under my cubby box today and I found this thing. It appears to have wires that go to a box, but without taking the cubby box out I can't get a good look. The cubby box is on woodern rails to lift it up to make room for whatever it is and it has this connector on it which...

More Leaking Questions - Been through the manual

Exactly the same thing happened to me, I did the same as you with some clear sealant but to fix it you need to minimum undo the bolts and use a highlift jack to lift the roof/side off then replace the foam seal. More of a summer job me thinks!

1992 Defender Bulkhead Dinitrol access points

I did mine through those access points and it made a hell of mess, it was all in the footwells and in the dash.. Then when I put the heater on it melted and was dripping out all over the place. Apart from that I feel protected now :)

Sump bolt possibly sheared / stripped fix or risk leaving?

You are right it's a 1/4" as it's a 19mm head. Early sumps, 1/4 x 19BSP have a 19mm sump plug (ie a 19mm spanner fits it). Later sumps, M14 x 1.5 have a 15mm sump plug (ie a 15mm spanner fits it). So yes if the tap size is 11.8mm then one of those M13 kits will work. I don't know...

Sump bolt possibly sheared / stripped fix or risk leaving?

There was/is some definite panic. Looking at this it says This Kit Will Rethread A M12 Threaded Sump To M13, and as a 1/4" bps is roughly 13mm then I need a bigger one. It's confusing some of the other ones I've looked at for M13 say they are for repair M13 but have an M13 tap which would be too...

Sump bolt possibly sheared / stripped fix or risk leaving?

It's 1/4" BPS which equates to about 13mm as far as I can work out. That's why I thought the M15 kit should do it? I don't want to make the situation worse for myself :)

Sump bolt possibly sheared / stripped fix or risk leaving?

Yes I did indeed put a new washer on it. I think the only thing I can do is drain it and have a look to see if it's the bolt or the thread. I fear it will be the thread :) The next size up of repair kit is M15 Laser 5227 - M15 x 1.5 Oil Sump Repair Kit - Machine Mart I don't know if that is...

Sump bolt possibly sheared / stripped fix or risk leaving?

I think I will put in a drain plug in when I fix it. I was just looking at them. So I need to drill the hole with a 14mm bit then tap with a 16mm and put in a 16mm drainplug. I think I can handle that! I really don't want to bugger it up as taking the sump off in the street outside my house...

    300tdi sump plug

Did you ever find this out? I'm trying to find out the size of the bolt / thread for my defender 300tdi. It's got a 19mm head?
