Hijack away lads!! My oil after the oil change still had a smell of diesel, but did have some thickness to the oil, now it smells very strongly of diesel and is very watery, I had been in contact with the guy from ebay and a quote for him to to all the work, strip head, weld and reassemble came...

Ok guys, done a 100 miles since seals n washers were done n oil level has risen from half to just below full, before i scrap it is there anything else that could cause diesel to find its way into the sump other than a cracked head??

Its the not knowing that's killing me, dont want to give up on the motor if there's a chance it'll be ok but literally not got the 2k to fix and wont risk a 2nd hand head

how r u testing to see if it leaks again? I did my oil change on Friday evening, took disco for good drive Saturday, seemed to sound alot healthier and also seemed to have more power, been checking oil level a good few tines a day n there's been no rise yet!!! Only had the motor just over 3...

and good that they saw no leak? To be fair they are a top notch company and at £67 + vat an hour they should be!!

I think that's what he said, he definitely mentioned looking for fuel leaking around injectors, maybe he meant just turning ignition on like you said,

my mechanic said they ran engine with rocker cover off to look for any leaks and didn't see any, not sire if they should have done that but I'm no mechanic and they are land rover specialists, les Potts in Sunderland

Got seals done today at indie land rover specialist, talking to the mechanic he said he sees more 15p engine with cracked heads than any other, I was under the impression the 10p engine suffered from from this and the 15p was fitted with a different head to stop it, anyway will do oil change now...

I'm going to order the seals and washers and do oil n filter change too, with regards to seals and washers should I get geniune, oem or britpart, dont mind paying the extra for geniune but not if its a waste of money,also what would people recommend for filters. Geniune orm or britpart?

After more reading up on the oil in red plug im not too worried now!! Read a few horror stories online of people needing new ecu's with huge costs involved!! Cleaned it up for now and have ordered new injector loom to fit at the weekend, Thanks guys
