Trip report - Suffolk to Morocco - July 2013

Having realised that it was lunch time, and we were half way through Spain, I thought we’d push on, I was pretty sure that we could make Ubrique before nightfall, and I was curious to see if the abandoned stone lodge and camp ground was still intact, if it was, it would make a most excellent...

Trip report - Suffolk to Morocco - July 2013

We were up at 6, and the kettle was soon singing on the stove as we packed the tent down, and dug out army rations of omelette beans and sausages to start the day. Already the sun was making an appearance, and voices could be heard along the main road behind the meadow. There wasn’t a cloud in...

Trip report - Suffolk to Morocco - July 2013

We had a 5pm ferry to catch from Portsmouth to Santander, with a 3:30pm check-in needed, so not wanting a last minute rush, we set off at 12, stopping for a late lunch at Ockham bites, just off the A3/M25 junction, incidentally, the same place we’d stopped last time out. We made the ferry in...

Trip report - Suffolk to Morocco - July 2013

I thought I'd post up a trip report of our drive out from Ipswich to the dunes at Erg Chebbi, in Morocco last month. I'd done a similar trip by motorcycle in September 2010, and have wanted to go back on 4 wheels to explore more ever since. I also fancied going during the hottest part of...

    Morocco July 2013

We also did a 42 km stretch of heavily washed out Piste, between Tamtatoucht, and Msemrir (joins Todra and Dades gorges) constantly traversing rocky river beds, as the roads had been washed out due to rain the previous day.. Here's a link to one of the short video clips we took on what turned...

    Morocco July 2013

We're back, and more or less in one piece.. Going over during Ramadan, and the hottest time of the year was great, 47 degrees by 10:30 in the morning, rising to 50's later in the day, Ramadan meant less people about, and the heat was dry, more bearable than UK temp. I'll write a trip report over...

Transfer box lever stuck in High Range

If it's been seized for a coons age, the all the wd40 in the world wont sort it from underneath, you'll spend an hour or so with your arm shoved up the side of the box, trying vainly to pop enough clout behind hitting the top of the linkage, to no avail... You'll grease up your arm good and...

Yeah, agree with Jason.. the monkeys are awesome, as is Imilchil & the Todra, couldn't have recommended a better couple of spots.. Cascades d' Ouzoud is another great area too, if you're doing Ouazarzate, Todra/Dades, Marrakech triangle, then fit the cascades in too.. As for awning, I just...

    France Spain morocco July-August 2013

Sounds like you're going to be pretty well packed.. :-) This time, we're just taking some spares, tools, minimal clothes, as you can wash your gear at camp, or in a river, minimal food, mostly rat packs, and will eat local again, (cheap & tasty) No fridge, no shower, (stripwash, & warm water...

    France Spain morocco July-August 2013

It panned out ok :-) I was on a motorcycle, so travelled light.. wild camped all the way, or at campsites in France.. pre-booked the ferry from Algeciras to Cueta.. cheaper than last minute.. :-)

    Morocco July 2013

Yeah, It will be hot.. but back in SA, we were used to temp in the 50's, so no biggie.. this crappy weather here has just got me beat down, so roasting hot will do nicely, will post a blog on our return :)

    Morocco July 2013

After riding from Suffolk to the Sahara and back on two wheels in 2010, I've decided to book a boat to Santander in July, and drive a similar route through Spain and Morocco. Will post up a trip report when it's all done and dusted.. If anything, it should be warmer summer than staying here :-)...
