Thanks for that, the lift pump has been done about the same time as the sender unit was replaced. Is that the banjo bolt on the injection pump to bleed the system, i had been loosening the injectors and bleeding it there. I think i will just order about 5m of fuel hose and some new clips to hold...

Thanks to everyone for your comments, I did solve the problem today. It turned out to be due to the fuel filter not been on tight enough, took it off and replaced nice and tight and running perfectly. I will be having words with the garage that did my service.

OK thanks, the filter was only changed a month ago, i did think about the lift pump but its only been on 3 years. I did find a small leak on the fuel line where the sediment tank has been bypassed so i replaced the connector yesterday. After that it ran fanatic for about 5 miles then this...

When you say it is blanked already do you mean it is blanked off inside as there is nothing blanking it on the outside. Surly if air is in the system it will have an effect on the running of the engine. It ticks over at around 750 revs as soon as you try to rev it it kicks out white smoke and dies.
