Hi, thanks Rick, but a bit of an update..... I have had hawkeye talk to the ABS ECU - tried again. Brake switch failure! Odd because when this first happened I have foot on brake changing gear, and when it stalled on the road. Can a brake switch (assume foot pedal) cause this?

wasn't going too :-), not that I can! I meant just disconnect and turn ignition on........

If I disconnect the alternator - should the faults clear and the drain stop?

Ok, worth saying I haven't had alternator fault on the message centre so far. Can I change the diode pack on the back of the alternator?

Hi wammers, sorry 4.6 petrol :-) I did coast to a halt indeed, but engine died seconds after gearbox, abs fault came up. Can an alternator have an intermittent output fault? Would a drain cause all this electrical fault? I have been running the car on the spot on/off for a while to keep it...

I call upon the collective wisdom. I have a 2002 P38 66k until now recently working ok. I have searched and searched on this one, but no one gives a conclusion to their problem. Recently and intermittently car has cut out while driving, followed by gearbox fault, ABS fault Fuse 6, 7 and 17...

Sounds right to me, dont forget to check the ABS ring for imperfections, as I found out, the slightest thing can upset it!!!!!!

Im not sure what you are testing V8HSE, are you testing each loom wire for ohms? Owen

It showed wheel speed and voltage, but as you might know - Hawkeye doesn't show them all together so you can compare..... Only when on another snap-on system could a comparison be drawn, RL was showing a lower voltage/wheel speed, but not by much. I can confirm the system is extremely...

Well, after an ECU and a fuse box replacement (it didn't smell great), another full loom test, then the inspection of the NSR/RL half shaft, I can say the problem has gone away. It was the half shaft.......... I replaced the half shaft (second-hand £30) as the original abs ring had slight...

I will let you know how it goes. I requested an unopened box. ECU testers on the IoW and an indy auto electrician said swap it...........I need my luck to change on this.

I think i have asked everyone now. They have all said ABS ECU change. I wonder what the chances the ECU sent to me was dodgy - its the only explination.

The plug for the sensors is ok and the others "look" ok, hardly a test i know. I think I’m going to send the ECU off to be 100% sure.....anyone know a cheep ECU tester?

Well, I can add to the list that is not the brake pads, hub nut loose/bearings and Hawkeye says each corner is giving a good wheel speed and working as it should. I am totally lost now.

Hawkeye defo gives a wheel speed on each corner. I am yet to plug her in a check all four corners. I read that the ECU drops the data link over a predetermined speed. So it’s slow driving to see what’s going on. If that comes back ok, I really will be stumped!
