Torque wrench vs hub nut box spanner!

I only managed 2 knuckles worth of skin and small pish stain. That’ll do it.

Torque wrench vs hub nut box spanner!

I had a chat with Heath, he said a 2 foot pair of stelsons should do it. It did.👍

Torque wrench vs hub nut box spanner!

Hm, how exactly do you apply the correct torque with box spanner? I do have a torque wrench and hubnut spanner but joining the two together to apply the correct torque? Shall I give heath robinson a call?

    Brakes. Spongy, no air bubbles.

No cloud at all. Tiny amount of black at low speed full throttle. Wonder if an injector seal or 2 is on the way out? Never had to top up oil though

    Brakes. Spongy, no air bubbles.

The Italian service ( as in redline it in4th) recommendation was from another MOT garage (that the Fox went yesterday having been sitting about for year, it passed) off to refil with premium diesel.

    Brakes. Spongy, no air bubbles.

Bled through again twice, all seems good. Went for the MOT retest. Still failed on emissions. What’s next after doing a few of the normal things, Italian service, oil fortify added with oil change, fuel treatment. Suggested to burn a couple of tanks of premium diesel? What else could I try next...

    Brakes. Spongy, no air bubbles.

New master cylinder fitted, now the joys of purging the air out, bubbles coming up into the reservoir when peddle pushed, bled the system once, settling time whilst it’s pishing down. More later. Any tips on purging the master of air?

What does the plastic pipe do that sits at the back on top of the master cylinder? Looks like a seal that’s split. Bit of rust, wet from too much fluid stilling out.

Going to try the gravity bleed method now a 3rd foot is available.

    Brakes. Spongy, no air bubbles.

MOT failed on brake pipe corrosion. Main rear lines changed at garage, front part of line all so changed, bleed through a couple of times with air pressure kit, no bubbles left, brake pedal still a bit spongy, pedal drops very slowly when engines running, not at all when off. Do I have a master...

    110 brake pipes.

Cheap nasty flare kit. Thread stripped on the wing nut! Thankfully I have a vice and a bench mounted one to!

Same kit, doesn’t seem to like the 20g copper pipe.

    110 brake pipes.

My laser entry level pipe flaring tool is mangling the pipe end hence question on pipe wall thickness. I do have a mini pipe cutter which works well, also have mini pipe bender care of the late FIL. More fun tomorrow. Bearing change as well!

Can anyone throw any light on the correct copper pipe size? The pipe I have 3/16 OD, 20g Should it be 22g?

    110 brake pipes.

Probably going to bite the bullet and do a full replacement as I have all bits, after I’ve sanded the bit a bit. Bigger issue possibly, failed on emissions too. Suggestion was to use Forte smoke stop. Any good?

    110 brake pipes.

Hi peps, any suggestions on replacing a front near side brake pipe on 2007 110? Do I replace the entire length or cut it off past the corrosion and join a new piece? Not sure how best the access the pipe in the engine bay tho! Seems cutting it might be fun! Possibly a job for a dremmel with...

    Oh my clutch, St Austell.

Barclays is now closed down, they have a shed in the town square where you can go if you want to be talked at by a spotty 12 year old who thinks they know everythink! It’s the former TSB.

    Oh my clutch, St Austell.

Sorted, just the master cylinder. Excellent job done by Shaun King vehicle engineer. Shaun said he’s rammed with resto jobs and looking round I spied a couple of galv chassis as work in progress.

    Oh my clutch, St Austell.

So call the recommended garage, guy turns up 20 mins later, takes the beast about 4 miles to his garage. It’s Shaun King, independent LR mechanic based in Par. Seems like a good set up. Hope I’m not stuck in snozzle too long, might turn loopy, plenty of work to do though, converting an old...
