    Tyre size for 90

It really depends what you are using the vehicle for and what you want to do with it. In reality you don't really need to lift a 90, they come from the factory with lots of clearance and suspension travel. A 2" lift just isn't needed. And no lift helps bigger tyres, unless your suspension is so...

    Tyre size for 90

It isn't an MoT failure, but is against Construction & Use Regs, aka making your vehicle technically non-roadworthy. The biggest risk would be if your insurance refused to pay out should you be in an RTI.

    255/85 16, will it struggle?

Do remember the speedo will be out though. And it must have impacted acceleration, else physics have left the building. How do you mean improved around town? I imagine it won't pull 4th gear at 30mph now unless it is completely level ground.

    255/85 16, will it struggle?

Do you know which gear ratios? You say Disco box, so it is probably the latter taller gearset. In reality it is over geared. Which you'll notice in 1st gear pulling away and if towing. But the Tdi is a stout engine and if tuned should pull it ok. How heavy is the 90, is it fully loaded up? The...

Driven: New Defender - On & Off Road. Is it a Pretender?

Had they have built something like that, it would probably be a somewhat different kind of person buying them. As part of a large Land Rover club and knowing lots of people with new Defenders..... you are the only person I know of who actually chopped in an old model for a new one. Everyone else...

Can anyone tell me what this is?

Why? There are far more legit reasons for it to be a modified vehicle. Talk about wanting to jump to conclusions without sufficient (or any evidence).

Can anyone tell me what this is?

True, but perfectly possible and also legal to convert them to coil springs, depending on exactly what has been changed.

    Help please

F reg (1988/89) is pre-Defender. It'll be a Ninety. They had drum rear brakes. If it has discs now, then the rear axle has probably been swapped. Could be from a later Defender or from a Discovery/Range Rover.

    JLR indifference.

What sort of redress are you wanting? A lynching, lottery winnings level compensation, a brand new car... If you feel you have a legal claim, then there are specialist legal people you should speak to. I can't see how a car stopping suddenly could really be life threatening. That's a bit of a...

    Defender Lift

BFG tyres are generally good. The KO2 has just been replaced with the KO3, but not all sizes available yet. BFGs are a bit pricey. I've got on really well with the Maxxis Wormdrive AT980. Very similar to the KO2 but considerably cheaper...

    Defender Lift

Those wheels and tyres look fine and should work no probs. The next size up is a 285/75R16, they are a little taller and will look quite a bit fatter. But you might end up with this size sticking out of the wheel arches a little. Might not be a problem for where you are going, but in the UK...

    Defender Lift

If you want to spend some money, then I'd recommend the Gywn Lewis kit. Its all about the go rather than just the show, if you know what I mean. It will transform the suspension travel and on technical off roading will make a huge difference...

    what shocks to use

As Phil mentions above, the fitment of the rear shocks is different to the front, so not possible. However, I think you might be getting yourself a little mixed up. By and large, the spring will set the ride height of a vehicle. The shock is there to control the up and down motion, aka dampen...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Max tyre size?

Any examples? Must be far and few between. I've consider an FL2 and researched them a lot, out of the many many threads I read across various forums, I've not seen a single case. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I'd assume is very much the exception rather than the norm. And if it was the...

    Defender Lift

265/75R16 is a standard size, so will work no problem with stock suspension. As a rule you can normally run 33" tall tyres no problem. Although it will depend on the exact rims, tread and vehicle. Off road the 110 has a brilliant approach angle, although the departure isn't as good as a 90 due...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Max tyre size?

Oh very clever. A real shame you aren't clever enough to note that a Freelander 2 is all independent suspension while a Defender is live axles. The Muddy Mods FL2 lift is also just a simple spacer lift above the struts, so does not impact spring rate, pre-load or damping.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Max tyre size?

Do any of them cite actual people having driveshaft and other component issue due to lifting the vehicle? If not, then all you are doing is posting FAKE News and not helping the op at all.

    Defender Lift

So a lift doesn't really give you more room for bigger tyres..... not unless you plan to never drive the vehicle or flex the suspension. Under suspension flex you'll need the same room for the tyre as you would with stock suspension. You can limit up travel to stop the tyre moving up as far...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Max tyre size?

So all vehicles use the same parts then or are you spouting generic nonsense? Plenty of lifted Freelander 2's about. If it was a problem you'd likely here a lot more about it, plus see other supporting mods being sold by places like Muddy Mods......

    Defender Lift

Hi and welcome. First off, why do you want a lift? Defender's already ride quite high, higher than most other stock 4x4's. Its like Land Rover already fitted a lift kit for you at the factory. What are you planning on doing with the vehicle that requires a lift kit? I'm not against modding or...
