Charge voltage should be 14.5V at the very most, over 15 and I would worry about boiling your battery acid off, and possibly exploding the battery. But as has been said, check the calibration on the voltmeter.

For all the variants of gearbox listed in my haynes manual, ATF is specified, that includes the R380. I hope that's right as mine is an R380 and I recently filled it with ATF :)

Did you refit the shoe return springs on the rear drum brakes correctly? "Correctly" is from the leading shoe to the post on the backplate, not between the two shoes. I know this from bitter experience :)

Yet another question, I did search but didn't find the definitive answer (possibly because there isn't one!). I've just found that I need to replace a load of bushes on my 90, most of the ones on the steering parts, and the rear "triangle" bushes. I'm pretty sure I can do this myself...

Excuse the slight digression but can you just pop that rubber seal off and apply grease? Or is something more required? Given the state of my landy I'm thinking I should check this (and 100 other things) :)

Thanks for those pics, the mystery of the cavernous transfer box is solved! I was using the wrong hole to fill it :D There's another plug, which looks like a fill plug, it has a copper washer even, up at the top left hand side of the box. The Haynes manual has no pictures so I just assumed...
