Disco 2 End of my Disco

It’s all over. Sold it for £450. With the engine AND steering issue (needs new box) it’s not worth it.

Disco 2 End of my Disco

Yes you have to drop the sump to check it though (supposed to be held in with thread lock etc) plenty of posts on it, but not an “easy” check

Disco 2 End of my Disco

Oil light on, stopped within a mile as nearly home. Transported to my Landy garage (known and trusted for years) And it was the oil pump bolt come loose (2002 51 plate with 161000 miles) He explained what had got damaged, but long story short- new engine required, which is not a real option...

    Is it likely?

The fuels are the same where ever you buy from. But they all add different levels and qualities of additives. If unsure but cheap fuel and add your own extras.

    Three amigos yet again

Even a "cheap" hub should have a warranty. At 6 months old I'd be contacting the seller. I had a faulty one replaced foc (within the year) as it leaked diff oil through it. I reckon you'd be best with a nice new hub with built in sensor though. Even if it is a cheap one.

    What one do you own

What I meant was if servicing cost £720 that's more than the value of the car (''twas a joke)

    What one do you own

I'd have thought that service cost would have written it off!

    Disco 2 Rear hub assembly

That's a baby- mines a 1000Nm cost £70 on eBay but used 5 times now! Also need good bearing puller to remove hub from shaft. Get new stake nuts from LR, right size and not too dear. Get brake disc retention screws too, they strip easy (also cheap) Takes about an hour, very diy, follow guides...

Disco 2 Bag or something more sinister?

Sounds like a bag. There's lots of parts to the system but the bags are the usual culprits. Remember if you go to springs you won't get the excellent-for-towing self levelling suspension. Plenty of pages on here re soapy water diagnostics and how to change etc.

    Td5 is gutless

By comparison mine also has a bit of a "time lag". At a busy roundabout I floor it while there's still a car in front of me, but it's gone by the time I pull away. Fine if you're usd to it!

    Three Amigo's

Your seller doesn't know diddly squat. Don't panic though. 3 amigos "can" be sorted for £70, plus diagnostic costs. I pay £30 for a local garage to read codes. Mine have always (3 times now) been mis-readings on the abs sensors. Changed the hub indicated as faulty each time, then get the codes...

    The three amigo's

I bought mine here https://www.jgs4x4.co.uk/search.php?search_query=Tay&section=product One did leak oil through it early within the year warranty, but was replaced without query. Other than that- years of service with no issues at all (changed all four now plus one of them twice as above!)

    +1 ^^^^

    The three amigo's

Are you sure he didn't fit a new hub? I thought the bearings couldn't be changed on a D2. (Can on a D1) New hub has abs sensor built in. Cheap ones are about £100 and take an hour to fit.

    3 amigos help

Changing just the sensor often doesn't work. You probably need a new hub with sensor already fitted and calibrated, reset codes, then you'll be done.

    Disco 2 Three amigos

+1^^^^ I would fit cheap ones though personally as they'll outlast my heap!!

    Island 4x4

Ordered a power steering pump from island 4x4. Was cheapest I could find, free delivery and had it two days later!

Not the usual 3 Amigos question

Could be just a hub. Get the codes read.

    Central Locking

My rear one went about 5 years ago, but haven't got round to it yet! Drivers door just gone the same two days ago! It does lock okay but only opens with the key.
