If your diff donut is shot.. then fit an older (200TDI) style diff flange and a UJ to UJ rear prop instead of the donut type. This will last alot longer if UJs are servicable and regulary greased. I have to do this on mine cos of the lift i have. It likes to eat donut's. Glad to be of help TPK

Take out both rear halfshafts to rule out wheel bearing first. I had a similar noise and was convinced it was the diff .. Turned out to be a bearing on the brink of disintegration. Jack up, stick rear on axle stands. Take out half shafts and spin the wheels hard to see if the bearings are shot...

I also just took the interior panel off both front doors, checked clearences and sprayed to hell with WD .. Now its spot on ... Except something has now happened to my alarm ... and seems to want to go off whenever it feels like it :confused: .... Joy !

I have a similar problem !!! The difference being now the key won't manually lock the drivers door, I have already written off one key as its so hard to turn !!! Any ideas would be welcomed ! THX TPK

Hi All, First post for me ... Just fitted new door seals to my disco 1 and now the drivers door has to be leant on in order to get the handle to open the door ! Anyone have any experience of dealing with this ? THX TPK
