Carrying passengers in the back of a Landy

it would be against current UK law as any car not fitted with seats in specific areas cannot carry passengers in that area. In other words the back of estate cars, vans and the like. Also if you have seats fitted they must have seatbelts now, no exceptions.

    freelander warning lights

Hi Guys, I had the same fault many months ago, a full service that included a complete flush of the breaking system solved the prob. Apparently the brake fluid was boiling too quickly as it was old and this meant the system wasn't working, now it's perfect. Worth a try. Regards Slippy

    Freelander Central Locking

 The plot thickens ever more, went to Wales for weekend, now 2 weeks since my lock started to not work properly and suddenly it decided to work day after I got back??? My Land Rover has a sense of humour it seems, oh well, I'll wait for it to go wrong again and then I guess I'll swear...

    Freelander Central Locking

:( Ok, not so happy. I checked my car this weekend, no wiring problems, all A ok. Solenoid is working properly as I can feel it move when I press the buttons so its not a motor prob. That means it is most likely something in the latch itself that is faulty so i need a new one of those. I must...

    Freelander Central Locking

 Conclusive proof that this is a brilliant site!! My Freelander (1998 XEDi) has just started doing the same thing, yesterday in fact and I was starting to freak a bit as I know central locking probs usually cost the earth. Now I know it is most likely 1 of 3 possibilities and I can fix...

Advice Req. Huming noise & thump when turning

Hi All, de ja vue big time. My freelander was doing the same thing, turned out to be the propshaft bearings, which in turn had damaged, well ok, knackered the central coupler. I had to get a whole new propshaft assembly. Landrover wanted £1378 for this part, I bought one from a scrapper, less...

    Diff problem?

Hi All, Thanks for the info and tips. I have had my freelander sorted out, nothing wrong with the diffs. I recently had the whole propshaft assembly chaged and decided a full service was a good idea. I had all the oil changed wherever possible, ie gearbox, diffs, final drive, etc. Also had...

Hi All, I have taken my freelander off road a few times now, I'm keen to get involved with some more serious stuff. Anyone know of any events, green lanes or gatherings any where near Croydon Surrey, say Godstone, Caterham, Warlingham areas? The car is more than capable off road, I rented a...

    performance chip hassles????

Hi, It has to be an ignition problem or a fuel management problem, since the chips for the engine management system are relatively cheap maybe the answer is to change that. Has the car ever worked properly or has it always had this problem? If the fault developed over time then it's unlikely to...

    Ban all 4x4's

I sent the following email to the anti 4x4 lot, for all the good it will do but what the hell. "check the facts before you blame 4x4 owners for all your ills. Bad parking at schools is the cause for congestion, usually in expensive BMw's or Mercedes parked with no consideration and usually...

    Diff problem?

Hi All in Landy Zone, I was wondering if anyone out there would know the symptoms of a dodgy diff? I have noticed that when I am manouvering at slow speed and tight turns that my freelander struggles a bit, and if I roll it backwards and then turn again it seams to bind and almost stop the...

    help

Hi Mickey, If the dohnut part you describe is in the middle between both propshafts then its the centre coupling. They cost around £600 to buy and are very easy to fit, that said I want to ask you a couple of questions first to fully diagnose the prob. Are you experiencing any loud hum or whine...

    Rear Anti Roll Bar

Hi all, I recently purchased a 1998 2.0 XEDi Freelander, love it big time by the way! Anyway, it came with a rear anti roll bar (not fitted) The original owner removed it at the same time he removed an engine management mod chip as it increased his insurance premiums by £600 a year. However, I...
