Anybody stripped a governor in situ , ??

Yes , checked when neutral and through gear suspect oil not circulating or may have been overcooked by previous owner, anyway not going up past second gear

Pretty sure oil showing high ,about 50mm above upper mark whilst running which appears very high to me !!

Problems with not going up the box past second gear , oil level high on dip stick when checked , not sure if overfilled or something blocked, going to change oil and filter , read a posissible problem with governor , valves o rings , blocked at rear of box that you can get at any suggestions...

just an update , turns out to be a few problems , some bigger than others ,Engine check light was on due to a pump sensor on no 4 injector being open circuit , replaced and engine light now out , but still would not start , decided to check compression , had readings of 270,100,50 and 400 psi...

Plot thickens , i find evidence that the car has a recent head gasket and there is evidence of the head previously getting hot as the temp sensor in the middle of the head has partially melted and the wires to the sensor are a bit brittle , tested the sensor for resistance and is giving...

car is EDC so doesent have the known faulty spider unit , would have thought if it was an imobiliser problem , it would't crank or inject diesel ? or am i wrong

was advertised as such , but bloke didnt realy know got car via another chap Engine cranks and pumps fuel and appears to have compression ( without testing) but engine' fault light' is on ' will normal code reader give 'land rover codes or does it need land rover dedicated equipment?

Just bought a 300 tdi auto with EDC fitted 150k full service history with can belt changed at 120 K Bought ,non running with suspected cam belt failure , (too good to scrap)but on returning home , turning crank and checking the tappets all appears in order . As car been stood 18 months...
