Just had a few weeks flustration with my 12yr old TD5 90..one cold morning completely dead on the ignition switch so jumped started her an thought battery twelve years old, fair enough, get new one..£120.. Nearly broke me back lifting them in an outa the footwell. A week or so later 3am! Alarm...

Had my TD5 ten years an would'nt be seen dead driving anything else..an if I can get it through the bloody "Moment of Truth" I'll still be seen driving it..:D Oh boy did I enjoy this winter,snow up to me rusty x/member.. sailin past them Beemers an Rice Burners..:cool::cool::cool:

That's exactly what the guy did...took a bloody great screwdriver an punched the x/member until it went through..:mad: Bet he could have done that on a New Rice Burner!!:rolleyes:....Thanks for your replies, Think I will have it welded up an get it through the "Moment of Truth"..

Been told my TD5 90 cross member is gonna fail MOT.(Rusty holes in it.):( got two choices, either weld temp repair (£50 ish) or replace (circa £500).Question is.. Would I be putting off the inevitable if I dont have it replaced??

My TD5 ninety came with a "Toad" security system fitted ( ten years ago). Have lost key fob remote. Anyone know if they're still obtainable and where I could get one?

Talkin of heads up...just been to Halfords an bought two halogen headlamp bulbs for the price of one.. .. The difference is well worth..£20.. If you diy... the spring clips holding the bulbs in are a b*****d. you will probabily have to remove headlamp unit from front, not difficult... just a...

A word of warnin.. after my T reg TD5 chewed the front shaft I fit two more in 2yrs:confused: before been informed by local dealer it required a specific beefed up one..No probs since:doh: Details of Heavy duty front prop shaft:-H/D OE Spec Part No TVB 100610G. Motto...BCBT buy cheap buy...

Had my 99 Def TD5 for ten years, love it. just does what it says on the tin..no frills. Need new rear cross member berfor MOT this April tho :Cry: So keep your eye on the metal bits under the paintwork.

Hi New to LZ. My Defender TD5 struggled this winter with poor lighting.. After reading threads on LZ the other day I went to Halfords and bought two halogen bulbs for the price of one (£20.)..The improvement is amazing..So thought I'd sign on and share it.. lucan
