Hi On my Freelander 1 when I take the handbrake off the light on the dash sometimes shall stays on. When I give the handbrake a nudge the light goes off. Sounds like the handbrake switch needs a slight adjustment. Is it adjustable and how do I get to it to adjust it?

Hi Found a split in the vacuum pipe that goes from the accumulator along the top of the engine. Back to good brakes again. Thanks everyone for your help.

Thanks. That makes sense. Also if the engine cuts out then would be enough accumulated vacuum to allow you to stop with some assistance. I replaced some of the flexible hoses with red ones recently. I chose red as I could then see easily which ones I had already replaced. I didn't do the hoses...

Thanks for your reply. Is that the vacuum accumulator under the brake servo? I have some silicone tubing (nice and red so I can tell what I have changed)! But I have not changed the ones going to the accumulator. I shall try it tomorrow.

How old is old for a TD4 before you wouldn't use it?

I have a friend who works alot with Diesel Turbos from many manufacturers. He recommends using Forte Advanced Formula Motor Flush before changing the oil on a TDI. This product is normally for trade only but as usual is available to anyone on eBay. Has anyone experience of using this product?
