Agreed! I could have bought about a dozen petrol RR's for about £4.38 each !! (Joke) but the diesels (god ones at least) seem to command quite a premium (round here at least). Petrol at £6.50 a gallon probably!!

Im pretty certain its excess combustion noise... rather than mechanical. It sounds like when you start a diesel from stone cold (the extra rattling you get) but it never goes even when warm.

I think its happened on every fuel injected car I have had inc my current one. The lower the fuel level the more the hiss, probably because there is more space for fuel to be vapour (ie expanded) then when nearly full. Well it makes sense to me!

They might fill from their own tanks but the fuel is the same as the the additives are added when the fuel is put in the delivery tankers. If you actually go to any refinery (like Fawley near wear I live, which is owned by Shell) and watch the tankers loading up, you will see they DO all load...

You are the one who needs to do the research my friend. Ever used the internet! There is a large esso depot/refinery near me and all differently labeled tankers go in and out. And yes the "special chemicals" in "advanced" fuels are added to the tanker or sometimes even as its being delivered to...

What a load of ****e! especially the "sell by date bit" Ha ha! Should not make any difference because reqardless of which petrol brand you use the fuel will come from the same (most local) depot. This is after an agreement by the petrol retailers to share depots to cut back on transport costs...
