P38A RR V8 specialist west country

It was the extra load on the engine with the lockup... I know... but probably (definitely) my highly tuned ear didn't notice the misfire when i was trundling around... what can I say most of my other dozers are diesels, so tappetty irregular rattling is the morning chorus. And my SIII 109...

P38A RR V8 specialist west country

Thanks All - It turned out the juddering wasn't a transmission probelm, but old Champion sprk plugs and one, the NSF the core had fallen out - into the cylinder presumably - so was running on a max 7 cylinders. 8 fresh NGK's has fixed the juddering with the 4th Gear Lock-up, but now highlighted...

P38A RR V8 specialist west country

Thanks - that would ideal, but the juddering is too uneven and sporadic for tyres, and doesn't feel / sound like a shaft slipping - though that would explain why it's worse under load, but not why it only happens in fourth gear. Pulling away up a steepish hill should reproduce that, but it only...

P38A RR V8 specialist west country

Hi All, Does anyone know a specialist RR V8 mechanic / tuner in the west country. I'm based in West Dorset so can venture to East Devon, South Somerset or Northern France (okay maybe my P38 won't fit on my little zodiac!)? I have a 1995 P38 4.6 V8 and it needs some expert TLC - Out of...

    P38 Diesel engine noise @2500rpm+

Thanks All, It does make the noise in neutral (though what happens at 70+mph is a much worse vibration/resonance). It's not bad YET, but is worth checking out, so I'm taking her to my local Landy Whisperer next week for some mind-melding. I will mention the "crank damper" and also been told it...

    P38 Diesel engine noise @2500rpm+

Thanks Wazzajnr - I'm pretty sure the engine noise is there in neutral, but obviously not the vibration/road resonance - I will double check in the morning and come back.

    P38 Diesel engine noise @2500rpm+

Hi All, My P38 2001 DSE 128k miles - has started making an annoying engine noise (like a light /muted knocking) at approx 2500+ rpm. It wasn't really a problem until I got on a motorway and once going over 70 mph @ 2500rpm there was a nasty vibration - like loud road noise. At the same speed...

    Series 3 petrol engine stalling

Hi, I'm a newbie so pls go easy on me if i make a faux pas or etiquette blunder.. My series 3 109 (1978) 2 1/4 petrol started stalling when lifting off the gas.. it idled okay (just) so thought it might just be a carb blockage rather than a problem with idle jet ( I have 3yrd old weber...
