Hi all, does anyone know if the small rear side windows are readily available for a 1996 300tdi? Tried the normal searches online but no result. wondered if they are scarce or pricey, might need 1 or 2 in very near future. Any info gratefully appreciated. (are they same shape as series?)

Sorry its a bit late but Ive just found out for myself that 300Tdi and TD5 transfer boxes aint the same. The TD5 ones dont have a speedo cable drive, that I could see. I now have a decent TD5 disco transfer box if anyone needs one!

As a reply to my own question, TD5 disco transfer boxes aint a simple swap. 1, the fwd drive flange diameters are different (swappable probably) 2, the change linkage (Hi/Lo or diff lock, im not sure) will need swapping. 3, the TD5 box does not have a cable type speedo fitting, maybe...

Thanks for that Bevhelee, been underneath it all day, manged to get the plug out in one piece, but the bronze tint to the oil aint a nice sign tho! More work to come no doubt!:o

Morning folks, can someone on here just confirm for me that the fill plug on the R380 gearbox is a size 55 Torx bit before I try to round it out! thanks in advance.

Sorry for the delay, it is a defender 90 on standard 205 tyres, no EGR, no cat, unsure if tweaked yet. Disco transfer box going in soon hopefully.

Ive just managed an average of 34.4mpg in a 96 tdi 300 on decent roads between 50-60 mph. Not bad for an areodynamic lump like that, if only I had the radio on to numb the noise !!

I know plenty of people have swapped around their transfer boxes from discos to 90s, but do the TD5 disco transfer boxes match up with a 300tdi defender 90? I have read somewhere that input gears may need swapping, but if boxes are as removed are they a direct swap? Im not sure if the Hi/Lo...
