how to remove disc splash guards?

Is the lock stop bold but the one that's attached to the bolt that looks half way in? Is this OK to temporarily remove? Sorry for the stupid questions - I'll happily have a bash at most things but am wary of cocking about with the brakes. Ta again

Hey all. On my never ending quest to hunt down a bastard nasty vibration I've now decided to remove the one remaining front disc guard. Anyone got any tips on doing this - don't want to unbolt anything brake hydraulic related by accident! Ta in advance

    defender propshaft nuts torque setting?

Hey All Before I get bollocked I have done a brief search but nothing obvious... Just stripped and replaced the UJs on my '94 300tdi 90 due to bad vibes and the weird chirping. Going to refit both this afternoon and want to know what the recommended torque setting for the nuts are -...

If you're in the UK at present, I imagine there should be some ice nearby where you can unwind it?

How long should a Defender battry last

I've got a 6 or 7 year old 663 tractor battery in mine - it's massive but just about fits in the box. Still going strong! Stick a multi meter on your alternator before you splash on a new battery

Wiring a rear work/reversing light from a separate battery

Hey all - please forgive a proper rookie elecrickery question... I have a rear work/reversing lamp on the back of the truck. Currently it's not conected up. The neg wire it earthed to light's fixing bracket inside, while the positive cable is not connected to anything. I have had a...

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

Ok so I checked the solenoid, bridged the contacts and got the same very slow turn over. I have tried retarding the timing by turning the dizzy and it seemed to make no difference. I am going to remove the positive cable that runs from the solenoid around the back of the engine to the starter...

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

Sooo - cheeky request time then... Anyone near Taunton in Somerset fancy a few beers in exchange for an hour under my bonnet with their timing strobe?

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

so would I be right in thinking I can retard the timing using the wheel rather than loosening the dizzy and twisting?

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

There's a magnetic ring that goes over the cam, and a module that sits under the dizzy cap which I presume measures the speed of the ring passing by it. Got it from 'SimonBBC' after reading a lot of positive reviews

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

As I haven't touched the timing since fitting the electronic kit, would it be worth retarding the dizzy by a few degrees to see if that helps?

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

Sorry - my ignorance is about to shine through here. Do you mean bridge the solenoid contacts with the screwdriver therefore elimonating it from the circuit? Have already cleaned up the starter to chassis earth - hopefully eliminating it from the list. I gurss the main reason I...

Would a vacuum leak cause staring problems?

Hey All Fairly new to Landies so be nice! Since getting my 1973 S3 petrol, I've put on new plugs, leads rotor and cap, changed the points for a 'SimonBBC' electronic set-up along with a new standard coil from same, cleaned up the earths from the negative battery pole and the starter to...
