    Britpart Propshaft UJs?

Hmmm, Britpart for UJ's? I'll vote for 'no way', regardless of whether there's a 'G' after the part number. These things can cause a massive accident when they go, and while I'm happy-ish to put up with their hopeless light units/ speedo cables/ wiper spindles etc etc, I think I'd spend a...

    P38A Range Rover 1998 P38 for sale, has 4.0 V8 Turner engine

I still have this old thing, rapidly bringing down the house values in my road! It really does have a lovely engine and starts up instantly, even after sitting for weeks. The rest, is distinctly average! LZers can now drive off into the sunset for £1650! :)

    300TDI Dis

Top of the A-post, that's not an MoT failure. Looks good in black. My 300TDi 'uses' a bit of water too. There's a P shaped gasket behind the housing where the water pump sits. It can leak quite often and goes unnoticed. Look for some coolant staining behind the water pump, running down the...

Turner inv by David James, on Flickr Serv hist by David James, on Flickr Any more, let me know! I think it's a bargain to the right person (yeah, yeah, I would say that wouldn't I?!) But seriously, this car would break for much more than I'm asking. The engine could be put into a better...

Time has come to sell it

I like to hide the number plate in an advert. My thinking is (as above), anyone serious will ask for it to do their checks. Trust your gut reaction if you're happy to oblige them... Secondly, having your number plate cloned is serious agro. Drive offs at petrol stations, speeding tickets and...

ISLAND 4x4, one man band ????

They're an hour from me, so I go to the shop in person. I can honestly say, they're a good crowd but desperately understaffed. I've been standing in the shop while the phone rings... and rings... and rings, there simply isn't anyone to answer it! No excuse of course, but I don't think they'd...

    Bad chassis earth?

I'd leave the original setup alone and simply put a nice thick cable between the engine/box and chassis. It'll be better than the standard 'P' clip setup. I have this and also separate earths onto my inner wings from the chassis- you never know how much corrosion has built up between the wing...

    "Lights-On" Buzzer

Yup, I thought they were all like that but think it must have been something brought in around the time mine was made. Mine also has blade fuses, my pal's 1989 110 still has the glass fuses.

    "Lights-On" Buzzer

Yes, side/tail lights work regardless of ignition. It's just the dipped/main beam that will only work when the ignition is switched on.

    Antifreeze query

The red (OAT) antifreeze did used to contain stuff that wasn't suitable for materials in old engines, but that was when it first came out (mid 90s?) and was quickly changed so it could be used without worry. The problem comes when people try to mix the OAT with older ethylene glycol- doing that...

    "Lights-On" Buzzer

My headlights only work when the ignition is switched on, there's a relay under the fuses that control them. Up until now, I thought they were all like that! 1990 CSW.

    chassis colours

Silver looks great. The only thing I would say, is that it may attract unwanted attention. My pal painted his new galvanised chassis black as soon as it was delivered -his thoughts being he didn't want to advertise the fact there was a perfect £2k chassis there with no VIN stamped on it...

Is this bad or ok for a 1990 200tdi??

This is true, but I thought that was only the very early/ to mid 80s transfer boxes, suffix A and B? You can fit the splash plate to the early ones. What I find most amazing is that it took LR until 1996 to fix the problem!

Is this bad or ok for a 1990 200tdi??

All the LT77 I've had apart have had 'short' splines, a new gear won't contact an undamaged section. You could fit a new gear anyway, which would remove 50% of the play but you'll still have the weakness of the worn shaft splines. I will say though, sympathetic driving and use of the clutch will...
