That's what I was thinking. The "Auxiliary Socket" accessory actually provides power to a socket in the loadspace/boot. It seems to have an direct connection to the battery with an inline fuse and a relay. I think the 20A feed is to power the rear centre console "aux" socket, and also switches...

Thanks for the info all. I didn't know the centre console socket was available as an accessory. Sounds like the best plan for a the phone charger I'd like to wire the GPS power supply to the dash, so I'd still like to know if the socket on the fuse box does what I think. I guess it's a job...

Replying to my own question... perhaps the fuse box socket is used for the centre console power socket (not fitted on mine) hence whilst the fuse socket can provide 20A, the aux (loadspace) socket only uses this as a switch for its own direct connection? Cheers, --Graeme
