A good service helps. Mine did 41mpg after a major service, done with quality parts, and good quality oil.

If it's the torpedo filter in the rear O/S wheel arch, it has a direction of flow. You might of put it in the wrong way. The housing has an arrow on it, same as the filter. Nightmare to get put though.

I had a replacement key and fob for my TD4 two years ago and it was about £80 from main dealer. As key is coded it has to be cut by BMW in germany, mine took about 3 weeks, but the fob was same day. Sounds like they were trying to over charge

I would suggest the oil, air, pollen and turbo vent filter get done every 12'000 at least. They recommend the fuel every 60'000, I do mine every 24'000.
