cheers for the help, but i took the plunge, found an offside inner wing (new old stock) and i bit the blokes arm off!!! just need the other side, and i think m-m4x4 have em in at a reasonable cost, then i can get the outers... which reminds me, anyone had any experience with the ABS outer wings...

Morning all, Just wondering if anyone can help me source a decent pair of series 3 complete wings that don't cost a small fortune, paint condition isn't an issue as they'll be resprayed, and I am willing to travel (not too far tho!), Ps I'm based in Leeds Cheers, James

Seen as its gunna be a massive job, I might as well do it right, so can anyone tell me what the correct thickness of steel should be for the chassis? Don't want any un-necessary weak points!

Looks like its a strip down shot blast and re-weld job then :( unless anyone has got one in good nick that they don't want much for, but I guess I've more chance of porking the queen than that happening!

Evening all, just a quickie, started the strip down on my 74 series 3 88", and as I should have guessed, there's a hell of a lot more work than initially anticipated. The bulkhead is pretty poor, however the top rail looks to be in remarkably good condition considering how crap the rest of it...

Upped the cabling to some 50A thinwall stuff seems to be doing the job, seems to have upset the missus tho, they sent me a catalogue with the cable and I think the wife is expecting me to flight the house in order to buy all the shiny gubbins they sell.... Maybe I will :flame2:

just having a gander at that chart, what cable then should be running from the alternator to the battery positive (or solenoid) think its 17amp on mine, is that not big enough?

I've got about 24 metres of various coloured 8 amp, got one rear quarter out and found all the lovely twisted wire wrapped in duct tape! All in random colours, so I gotta get to work teasing em all out and replacing all the old rotten stuff... Also found that the rear lights were held in with...

Loving the thread BTW, I've tons to do on mine, just never welded a thing in my life, and I've the bulkhead to patch and the rear crossmember to fit :( aswell as all the comedy wiring and bodges, mainly done with bathroom sealant!
