    Best jack for 90

Yep a 5 tonne bottle jack is ideal for changing flat tyres out and about but the Sealey 3 tonne trolley jacks are the best for the garage, really stable and dont stuggle like hell to lift the weight like the small 2 tonne ones do.

    No brakes

To bleed to the brakes you should start with the corner the furthest away from the master cylinder and work your way closer to it. Do all four corners and keep going until you have new fluid comming out as if its been in there a while it will probably be due for a change! As for your brakes...

    Swivel oil leak

Yep you need to replace both swivels (about £70 each) and the seals but make sure you buy genuine seals as pattern part ones wear out within a year!!

    cant get it off

Its also worth getting a 1/2" bi hex socket as this is slightly smaller incase the head is rusted or worn a bit.

    Winch Bumper and Steering Guard

Would it be possible to take the steering guard apart and oval the holes in the front plate allowing you to move the brackets either inwards or outwards to miss the bumper?

defender indicator lens wont come off

If you have replaced them in the past with the £1.99 pattern part ones then that will be your problem! I did this and now all my lenses need to be pryed off with a small screwdriver all the way around as the lense and the rubber must bond together and it leaves them looking a mess. I would buy...

    Tbox gasket replacement and sealant?

Personally I use a gasket and a thin smear of Hylomar Universal when i dont want to take it off all the time. Or if I dont have a gasket I use a thicker layer. Its not eaten by petrol and stuff like that unlike the instant gasket on the fuel sender :frusty: its also non setting so it seals...

    Calipers and pistons

just go to your local motor factors and buy a length of brake pipe, a bag of various fittings (should be metric but you never know) and a pipe flaring tool. Have a play around and get used to it and then make up your new pipes!

    Calipers and pistons

First tip is to but genuine repair kits! They make a world of difference. You need to make sure the step is very very clean, scrape it out with a wood chisel or a knife or something. The way I do them now is not the recommened way but it works for me. I split the caliper in two and then use a...

    3.9 V8 into 90 TD

The transfer box mounts should all be the same so your propshafts should be ok. I have a 3.9v8 coupled with an LT85 box and LT230 transferbox in my 90 and it works well offroad.

    Calipers and pistons

Have all your retaining rings been removed before and never replaced? there should be a groove in the caliper for the large seal and then at the top there should be a step in the casting. You will need to scrape this out and the retainer should be pressed into it allowing the dust seal to be...

    Defender insurance?

Try Adrian Flux, I was 20 3rd party for a 200tdi 90 with larger intercooler and engine power upgrade, lifted, winch and winch bumper etc for £400. No other common company would touch me as it was modified, Direct line wanted £900 and only if it was standard.
