    Creaking rear ;-)

My t plate freelander has developed a strange creaking noise from the rear - I can't quite tell what it is but I can make it very noticable by going at low speed (10-30mph) and tapping the accelerator - it sounds like a suspension/creaking sort of thing - anyone with any ideas where it's likely...

LOL!!! Checked and despite a little bit of lying water under the fusebox, there's nowt corroded and doesn't look like the scene of the crime... ...any more suggestions, it's not the battery, alternator, highly doubt the starter as I've given it a big ol bashing with no effect and I've checked...

    Scraping noise (rear wheels)

I've got a faint scraping noise (same noise you get when brake pads are starting to go) coming from the rear o/s of my Freelander 1.8 T plate... I think it may be a wheel bearing.... Before I jack it up to do a closer inspection, I presume the 4WD feature will not allow me to rotate the rear...

Replace Cam belt with head gasket?

Woops, sorry! I'm getting my head gaskets and cambelts mixed up here! Question 2 should have read, "2. If I'm paying my mechanic to replace a cambelt, should I get him to replace the head gasket while he's at it? The head gasket has done ~30k miles and I'm thinking that it's probably...

Ok, thanks all - think I'll take the advice to get the head g done (possibly again?? ) ....this leads onto two questions: 1. What type of head gasket should I get for my mechanice to fit - i.e. is there a new & 'improved' version available which I should be looking to get or are...

Irregular tyre wear / veering to right...

My 1.8 hippo (newly acquired) seems to be veering to the right - noticeable more so at lower speeds. Having checked the tyre pressures and sorted them out (they were all set too high) I've monitored for a few days and the problem continues... Got garage to check tracking and it got the all...

re: clunk going from 1st to 2nd - most probably rear diff - tiny correctly diagnosed a similar problem on my Freelander recently - mechanic inspected and confirmed it was the rear diff mount which had collapsed - luckily only £30/£40 part + mechanics time to fix...
